What's on the menu today, RNY-ers?
Hi DC,
Kind of bummed. Saw my surgeon and Nut yesterday, and she wants me to have 150g, or as close as I can get to it, in protein! 2 protein shakes a day CRAP. I can barely get down one. My surgeon doesnt want me to have any acidic foods from now on, nothing spicy, because I told him I ate some green chile sauce (mild enchilada sauce), and he said, no more. I need to take care of my new stomach. (I'm mexican, I love spicy food). So okay, I'll lay off the jalepenos now, but come on. UGH. To add insult to injury, I have not lost 1 pound in a week. 3 week stall yada yada yada. 13 pounds lost since surgery, 2 days away for 4 weeks post op. I lost more weight during pre op in that amount of time......
morning had my protein shake
lunch: egg white, with mashed black beans, and green chile sauce (against Dr. recommendation)
snack: protein shake
dinner: cooked shredded chicken breast topped with marinara sauce and swiss cheese, broiled
I'm so sorry to hear that! I don't know what I will do if my nutritionist tells me no spice :( I'm not Mexican but I may as well be! Whenever I am in Mexico with local friends, I have always eaten hotter salsas and peppers than they do. They are always impressed with this blonde gringa who eats habaneros :)
I guess I will ask at my next appointment about spicy foods. I have been eating red hot pepper flakes even in my two week post opp fluids. I added them to caldo so I could taste something!
I also want to see massive weight loss but we HAVE to keep in mind that we are eating, what? 600 calories a day? This is likely 20% of what we used to eat. The weight will come off. One year from now we will be completely different people. We got this!
I eat spicy/hot sauce all the time and so do other post ops. What does your surgeon think it's going to do to your pouch?
Happy Saturday!
4 1/2 months out from surgery. Still feeling a little under the weather, so I could have done better...BUT...
Breakfast: Coffee with 1/2 scoop of protein.
Snack: Small handful of peanuts.
Lunch: One and a half turkey pinwheels on flatbread...(pulled off all the excess flatbread, tho, to make it mostly meat, cheese, lettuce and a dab of dressing).
Snack: Small bit of beef jerkey.
Dinner: Not quite sure yet...may have another pinwheel. I work tonight, so I'd prefer to just bring something easy.
Exercise: Didn't do anything extra...but I do work tonight, and it's a pretty physical job.
Liquids: Another cup of coffee with SF creamer, on track to have enough water to meet and exceed 64 oz.
Vitamins: On track.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend, guys!
