An alien at the grocery store

I had the same reaction as you when I picked up my meds at target about 5 days out. I had to wait so I went into the home goods and toy areas. It is still weird to grocery shop even though I do venture in the center aisle for my husband and children (and canned goods etc.), it still is strange because I used to shop differently.

I most definitely went through a mourning period. I basically didn't eat for 5 weeks...2 before surgery and 3 post op. I just had water and protein shakes and gradually added soups et c....but it was a shock to me! Now I am cooking meals for me and my family and trying to focus on healthier foods. I am learning about fresh herbs and trying new recipes but I only eat a very small portion and my family eats the pastas and starches. I stick with the protein and veggies. Sweets don't call my name anymore and I hope this lasts! I threw away cookies and chocolates that my family didn't eat from the holidays and it didn't bother me a bit!
