I was reading  the benefits of Coconut Oil and Milk and came across this recipe that sounds yummy. Now if someone can tell me what 30 grams is in oz or Tablespoons, or scoops I'd give it a try!!!

Dr. Pina’s Piña Colada

Ingredients

20 grams protein powder

3 oz low-fat coconut milk

3 oz pineapple juice

1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks or ice

Directions

Blend all ingredients together and serve.

You can also try our coconut pancakes.

Having healthy fats and plenty of protein is a wonderful way to control blood sugar, and stave off mood disorders and depressive feelings.

Handy tip: Google will do conversions for you. Just type in the Google search bar, for instance "30 grams is how many ounces" and it will put the answer right in the drop down list of choices.

30 grams is a smidgen over 1 ounce, 1.05 to be exact. However, the recipe calls for 20 grams, which is 0.7 ounces. Can't really convert a weight measurement to a volumetric measurement, so using a scale would be the best bet I would think.

You could use SF Pineapple syrup - Torani and Davinci and other companies make them and then you would eliminate the sugar carbs.  Try throwing some spinach leaves in.  The color will be green but spinach is almost tasteless and increases the nutritional value of any smoothie.  (I like to add Kale or Chard but they are a little more bitter).

Unfortunately, I think the health benefits of the coconut milk and protein powder will be overcome by the sugar in 3oz of pineapple juice (12g sugar)  and 1/2 cup pineapple chunks (16g sugar)!!

I hope you don't dump!

Each protein powder mix is different. They usually have a scoop inside.

20 grams of protein may just be 1 scoop depending which brand of protein you use. The information is on the package.

You might sub flavored extract for the pineapple and coconut.

Using real juice and real fruit increases the calories AND sugar content.

That sounds good.I think maybe you could substitute with pineapple yogurt to make it higher in protein and less in sugar.

That sounds delicious - anything would be better than chocolate or vanilla at this point.  Thanks for sharing, think i'll try it with SF flavorings.  Just need to order some pineapple.

Yes protein shakes get boring.  I have sugar free raspberry and caramel.  Toranis make them.  They are good.  Sometimes I substitute coffee for water in my chocolate protein shakes and ad SF caramel syrup.  Kind of makes a chocolate caramel mocha.  Not bad!!
