I am 10 months post-op. My PA through my surgeon is suggesting i will hit the proper percentage lost at 197 lbs and that would still make me obese. I was to be at 159 for a normal bmi. I am 5'7 i am worried because i am a slow loser have lost 85 lbs since surgery with lots of stalls and temporary gains. I just got over a temp 10 lb gain that took me over 2 weeks to lose. I have about 57lbs i think left to lose to hit goal. Is this possible when i am so far out at 10 months post? I currently weigh 212 but if i am counting weight lose from my 2 weeks pre-op diet i have lost about 15 lbs on pre-op diet which would mean i am down 100lbs since surgery and 80ish pounds pre-op. My highest weight was 401.

Of course it's not too late. It's never too late.  If you were ten years out instead of ten months, it would still be possible to reach your goal, or something close to it, if you worked at it.  Many people continue losing for 18 months or more after surgery, but even years later, you can lose weight.

You will keep losing weight as long as you continue to burn more calories than you consume.  I continued to lose (albeit slowly after 9 months and then VERY slowly after 12 months****il I was 20 months out.

It is absolutely possible for you to lose 57 more pounds when you are 10 months out!

14 years out; 190 pounds lost, 165 pound loss maintained

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Don't worry about the 197 - just keep your eye on the prize!! You can always lose weight. Just burn more calories than you eat. Your pouch should provide portion control even when the malabsorption stops.

I am over what my surgeon said was "successful" or "expected" -- you can do it too.  Look how far you have come? Down from 401!!!

Darn Good Post Sherri!  Right on!

To the OP, keep your eye on the prize and NEVER give up.  Keep watching your portions, calories, and carbs. Work out.

You have lost a tremendous amount of weight, do NOT give up now!  You have come too far!

Me too. I was 180 and now I am 195, up to 199 after the holidays.  Why am I so hungry.  Why do I feel like a failure cuz I eat so much now?  Why do I feel so guilty about stretching my pouch...did I?  Am I hurting myself or how do I save my beloved pouch?  Help.

Are you eating a lot of processed or starchy carbs like bread, pasta, crackers. rice, potatoes?  Those foods actually make you feel hungry and will trigger cravings.  You will eat more and slow down your weight loss.  The other culprit is too much fruit.  While fruit is a healthy snack... it is still  considered a sugar and will slow your weight loss.  If you cut these things out for awhile... your  hunger will not be so ferocious and you can get control of the cravings.  Your diet should be mostly protein and vegetables... with an occasional fruit.

It's really hard to stretch your pouch.  You still have your tool... you are just not using the way you are supposed to.  Follow the rules.  Measure your food and eat only what you measure out.  It's really easy to let portion sizes creep up on you.  Don't go back for seconds...no matter how good it tastes.  No drinking with meals.... it washes the food out of your pouch and you feel hunger ...sooner.  It also allows you to eat more foods at each meal... increasing calories and causing weight gain.

Keep in mind that you've been off plan a good bit and not doing what you need to do consistently, so I think you can get back on track and lose the weight. I surely would not go through all this to remain obese!

I say buckle down, eat right and work out 6x a week and watch the pounds go away!

It's NEVER too late. EVER. There is one woman on here who took NINE YEARS, but dammit she DID it - is that perseverance or what?? You can do it too - don't lose faith - keep your head on straight - do all the right things - and put one foot in front of the other.
Maybe make small little goals. I write them on little stickie notes and put them on my bathroom mirror - I get such a thrill when I get to take one off! For example, "Go one week drinking all my fluids", or, "Two days a week I will walk for 30 minutes", or, "Lose 3 pounds in two weeks". The trick is to be realistic and doable - so they are motivators and positive reinforcements!
You've done a GREAT job so far - just keep swimming!

I am 5+ years out... I want to lose 15 lbs... I know I can do as long as I follow proper diet and some moderate exercises.. And that is way after my honeymoon period...
