Post ops past 1 year and malabsorption

I don't know how anyone would know if they were still malabsorbing or not.  At five years out, I assume I absorb macronutrients.  But I never really counted on malabsorbing them.  I mean, when I counted calories, for instance, I counted them all.  I didn't assume I was only absorbing some of them.

How can I put this without being offensive?

The amount that my body eliminates after RNY is more than double what it was before RNY with much less food.

Things pass through extremely quickly.  You know what happens to corn the next day.  That happens to me the next hour.  A normal stool before surgery was six to eight inches long.  After surgery they are twelve to eighteen inches long and much thicker.

I try to eliminate half and then flush the toilet to keep it from becoming blocked.  When I remodel the bathroom next year, I am looking at toilets with extra capacity.  Many days I will have several large bowel movements.  This is my experience with food not being well absorbed six years after RNY.

We actually installed power assisted flush commodes in all 7 bathrooms in both homes...we love them THAT MUCH! Bought the first one for the master bath in one house and then pulled the trigger on replacing them all. LOVE them!

Which company manufactures those power assisted commodes?

The Kohler Cimmaron is available widely. We have the Toto that is 'to the trade only' so you'd have to use a plumber to get one. But the neighbors at one house went with the Cimmaron in their home and having used it, can say for 500$ less each commode it is a GREAT value!

I just started looking a few weeks ago and was told both Kohler and Toto are top of the line.  I am also going to buy a bidet seat.  Have you checked into those.

I have a Gerber from about six or so years ago. it could flush a good sized house cat or lemur without clogging. Maybe even flush Toto (the dog from the Wizard of Oz). All pressure assist toilets use air pressure from a reservoir in the tank to work properly, and if your water pressure is a little low, it won't pressurize the tank. I had a third floor toilet that wouldn't pressurize, simply because the water pressure dropped too much to climb that height. Something you might want to check before paying a bunch of money for a toilet. But definitely worth it.

I am in the planning stages.  It is a first floor bathroom and my city has good water pressure.  I really appreciate hearing about you experience.  There are so many products out there and I want to make the best choice.  Thanks for replying.

Some use a varying amount of water too, so if water conservation is important, check those out. I don't know if the pressure assist do, but some are now dual-flush -- less water for yellow, more for brown. Mine were for tenants, and I was most interested in never having to fetch over a plunger again. And with the pressure assist, I never have.

Toto has an electronic control commode with heat, bidet and other features. I have spent enough time in Europe that I know a bidet is not for me, we chose his and hers commode rooms vs a bidet at one house because that is more valuable to me. :) But I do have several neighbors and friends with them and they would not give their bidet up for anything! I'm painfully American I guess, lol.
