Are you having trouble with your Iron levels?? Usually women who are not longer on their period or men DO NOT need iron. Just FYI iron can be dangerous to men... so please keep careful watch over your labs if your going to take iron do your labs more often.

ALL the women in my support group have to take iron. The men, too. I have not had a period for five or six years (yes, I am that old) but remain severely anemic with an iron level that is 12. About one-third of what it should be. The thing is, even if you feel you don't need the iron, make sure to monitor it. Make them give you copies of your labs so you can see for yoursel. A lot of time it may be in the normal range, yet dropping, which they won't tell you as long as it is normal.

Ferocon isn't JUST iron---it also has intrinsic factor, which everyone who'd had the RNY needs in order to absorb iron.

Tooter is right - this is more than just a vitamin pill with iron. My surgeon has my hubby and I taking two a day (am and pm) along with a multi-vitamin and calcium citrate. Your pharmacist ought to be able to order it for you if you are unable to locate it at another pharmacy in your area.
