pain
I just called my Dr's office to ask a question about the pain I have on the right side of stomach in front in the area of one of my incisions all around the area it hurts and I know it has been 3 weeks but it hurts more now than before. I know it takes time to heal but I would think the pain would get lesser and lesser. Just waiting for the call.

Last week I made a similar call to my surgeon's office. My pain was pretty severe (also at 3 weeks) in the front of my abdomen to the left side of my belly button. The pain literally made me wince -- it was a sharp burning pain -- much like the incisions at the very start. The weird part is that there is no incision there. I could also feel swelling. I was certain that I had a new hernia or something equally as terrible.
My nurse explained that the pain I was feeling wasn't unusual. Around three weeks out a lot of nerves start reconnecting and internal healing/scabbing is taking place. She advised taking it easy, using some pain killers if necessary and trusting that it would pass. I didn't believe her. That night it was even worse! I could hardly move!
Long story short, it crazily was gone yesterday. I am still guarded and being extra careful, but the pain is all but gone now.
Hope your experience is the same.

I felt sore the first two weeks then in the 3rd week, the pain crept in first on the right side then on the left. It passed in a few days and now just past 4 weeks, I am feeling no pain and the lumps/swollen tissue behind the small incisions have disappeared. It will pass, doesn't hurt to call the doc if you feel you need some pain meds.
Glad to see Im on track with everyone else...Called the doctor yesterday and asked abot the pain on my left side. Had minimal pain after surgery and it now hurts like hell.. I too am 3 weeks out. I was told the same, body is healing internally and to give myself time. Was told this could last a few weeks... I hope not!
one year and four months after gastric bypass surgery, I had to have my surgery revised a week ago, From 3 months after my first surgery i complained about cramping, burning and felt not normal and all they answered was not everyone is the same ,thats part of the surgery.. well after complaining i was diagnosed with an ulcer in my new pouch.. after several months on a high dosage of nexium and uncontrolable diarreah i was told it had healed but not even three months after i start with the same symptoms and this time the pain was so severe i couldnt eat or drink so i call 911 ,get admitted with an bigger ulcer and had to have surgery asap because they thought that somehow i was leaking from my new pouch but thank god i wasnt just an bigger ulcer that was eating my stomach up so they had to revised my surgery and cut out all where the ulcer was and now my pouch is even smaller than before so my lesson to this story is if you dont feel right go get help and dont settle for one opinion always go for more than one so you dont end up like me... know your body and know what feels right or wrong
