What's on the menu today, RNY-ers?
Hi All,
Today has been a bit of a frustrating one for me - I am six weeks and one day post-op, and I went to the hospital to have my IVC filter removed (I have no history of blood clots but because of my BMI, my doctor recommended I have one). Not only has it set me back $800 (Aetna paid 90%) BUT I went in at 11 am and they didn't do the procedure until 2!!!! I didn't get home until 4 pm.
Anyway, complaint over. I feel a bit woozy from the sedation so apparently I am stuck at 1,000 steps today. Thank god I got in a great Zumba class yesterday!
My menu is off since I couldn't eat after midnight and until 3 pm after the procedure. So far today I have had:
S: Believe Mocha Latte protein drink (110 calories, 20 g protein)
L: (?) One Trader Joe's sweet basil pesto chicken and turkey sausage link (170 calories, 21 g of protein), 6 olives (both green and black)
D: I have no idea. Nothing I have in the house sounds appealing. Maybe some frozen shrimp sauteed up with garlic and a tbsp of pesto and some red hot pepper flakes and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese? I am really only craving brussels sprouts for some reason lol!
Hope you all are staying warm and had a good day - what's on the menu?
Em
Hey DcGirl!!!
Your maybe possible dinner idea sounds so delicious!
Time out: Almost 13 months
B: Protein coffee, 1 boiled egg. 1 slice turkey bacon
S 1: Atkins protein bar
L: 1/2c Turkey chili, 1/8c shredded cheese
S2: 1/3c roasted chick peas flavored with splenda and cinnamon (My Fav Snack)
D: 1/2 Turkey pattie, 1/3c seasoned cooked greens
E: So sore, rest day
W/Vites: On target
Totals: Calories 787, Protein 72 grams, Carbs 62 grams, Fats 33 grams
I may eat some more protein before bed to boost up my protein and calories since I'm low on them both.
Hey Kenyatta! I have seen others eat these roasted chick peas too...I would like them with spices I bet :) I know they pack a bunch of protein. I have yet to incorporate any bars into my diet but I see Atkins bars as well as another brand quite often. I know Bariatric Foodie did some reviews of some bars and there was a chocolate chip cookie dough bar that sounded pretty heavenly...
I'm defrosting the shrimp now...I think you're right, it will taste good :) I was tempted to go across the street to the German doner kebab place and just get the chicken off of the spit, but I will save that treat for a day when I am home late and exhausted. No reason not to cook now when I am home and have the time :)
I am so impressed that 72 g of protein is low for you. I am working on increasing mine. Not today, since I couldn't start eating until 3 pm. But going forward. I always felt like 60 g was ok, but I am going to be more vigilant.
Enjoy your day off of the devil machine (elliptical!) :)
Breakfast - protein shake
Snack - English muffin
Snack - hot cocoa
Lunch - apple slices with almond butter
Snack - protein bar
Dinner - apple slices with almond butter
Snack - not sure, probably yogurt

they have both creamy and crunchy. I get the creamy and it's completely smooth, no chunks of nuts. Kroger has had it on sale lately. I probably won't buy it as much when it's no longer on sale because it's expensive. But so yummy.

20 mo post op, not sure whats on the plan for most of the day:
B: 1/8 C leftover Kung Pau Chicken
S: one pepperjack string cheese
L: 1 oz cube steak sauteed with salt, pepper, and cajun seasoning ; 1 oz red beans and rice
S: 1 oz turkey and 1 oz cheese cubed and skewered on 4 ultrathin pretzel sticks
D: not sure yet- can't eat what the kiddos want (hot dogs and mac-n-cheese) so I will probably have some egg salad or tuna salad maybe. house is pretty darn bare at the moment--- they repo'd our truck on Sunday before we went grocery shopping. :( so much for trusting the hubs to remember bill paying for more than a month!!!

Oh no, Poppy! Not sure where you're located but I know it's way too cold to be walking to the store around here :) Well, I live a block from a grocery store so I guess I could...but I don't want to! Egg or tuna salad sounds good, but sorry about the bare cupboards. What a pain! I have to find some pepperjack string cheese. I love pretty much anything spicy!
