One Year Checkup
I had my first annual checkup with my surgeon yesterday. He had not seen me since one year ago at the hospital when he was releasing me....he was so astounded at the change that he brought me out to the newcomers support group that was getting started and had me say something about my first year, while they passed around my day of surgery pic (yikes!). they all said how beautiful I was and that seeing a live person one year out really makes it clear what this surgery can do. What I liked though was earlier hearing that ALL my labs came out great AND then the nurse turned to me and said, "I've NEVER said this to anyone before, but your vitamin D level is a little high" LOL! Not way high so I'm not toxic, just she was amazed to see someone actually hit the target on all the vitamin levels including D. I told everyone that I learned a LOT on this website and I hope they join to learn as they go too. So thanks for the support and help here! It's been a great first year, and 2014 is the year I. GET. TO. GOAL!
Way to go on the vitamin D!
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
You are lucky to see your surgeon. I met Dr. Smith once pre-op for about 5 minutes and the day of surgery long enough for him to say RNY would extend my life 15 years. Anyway, aren't Alaskans sunlight-starved in the winter months? Us Minnesotans are notorious for low Vitamin D levels--assumed Alaskans would be the same. Please give the Vitamin D brand and daily dosage you take?
