2/14/14 was my 1 month post surgery.
Yesterday was exactly 1 month since my surgery. As of yesterday morning I am down 19lbs. since surgery and 40lbs since my first visit with the bariatric doc. I have mixed feelings. One one hand I feel like that is a nice amount in the first month, but then I end up comparing it to others on here and don't feel as pleased with myself. I KNOW I can't do that but you sometimes don't realize you are doing it. All I can do is look forward and keep working MY plan.
Also, I have noticed my skin is so dry. I don't know if its because I am having trouble getting all my water in or if its the cold weather or a combination of both. Any suggestions for a good moisturizing lotion? I have a hard time using them if they are oily feeling. Thanks.
We had similar starting weights! Everyone loses at a different rate so I just refuse to compare. It's hard when someone says "100 lbs lost at 6 months" because I start calculating lol. But you're down 40 lbs which is amazing!!!!
i have been using Gold Bond healing lotion with aloe. It's pricier than others but is not greasy and works! I swear if I don't put it on my legs I look like an alligator :)
Im keeping my carbs to around 20 per day whenever possible, and maximum 40 g in a day. When I look at those who took advantage of the first 12 months of honeymoon time (easiest to lose), I would say a majority of them ate low carb. This is not the advice of my doctor or my NUT but this is what I have chosen and it's working for me :) No potatoes no pasta no bread no rice :) Which are, incidentally, all of my favorite foods lol. But I'm going to try making oopsie bread and cauliflower pizza crust and I'm a convert to tofu shirataki noodles and I did this surgery for my health so I am going to maximize and embrace my new eating habits :)
Anyway I think you're doing awesome so far so keep on with your plan!
i was told by my surgeon that the more u have to lose the faster u lose it but i lost about 5 pounds a week so your doing good keep up the good work :)
I don't count my carbs, but I use myfitnesspal and always read nutrition labels looking for low fat and low sugar. I also don't eat any 'whites' - no bread, pasta, potatoes, crackers, etc. I stick to veggies and limited fruits for my carbs. I do eat my Skinny Pop popcorn (2 cups a day).
I was considered a lightweight and I always compared how much I was losing per month to how others were doing. Then I realized that this isn't a comparison and all bodies will lose at a different rate and if you have a lot to lose, you may lose more faster. I then started looking at my % EWL and this helped my get to a better place about the rate I was losing at. Sounds like you're doing great - just stick to plan.
I had surgery on January 16, 2014 and have lost 24 lbs. It is hard not to compare. I ask myself, am I eating too much, but compared to what I used to eat I feel as if the weight should be falling off in buckets. I walk every day and get all my proteins and water in so I don't know what more I can do. We need to keep doing what is right and the weight will eventually come off. Keep up the good work. It will pay off in the end.
Think of it this way: You've lost 24 pounds in a month. That's six pounds a week! I'd say that's a darn good loss, to be honest. If you're following your surgeon's plan, you WILL lose the weight, you're right. Don't get discouraged, you're doing great!

It was my one month also. I've lost 18 in the last month also. I'm down a total of 31. Sounds like we are right on track! Today it seems so slow to me as I'd like to have been at goal ....like yesterday! No one has even noticed...sigh
hang In there.... My issue is contipation....I'd take dry skin!
hugs
The 13th was my one month. I have lost 20lbs as well. I'm going to start walking more. I find that i'm more tired then I use to be so I don't get up as much. 5 lbs a week I think is good. I to have dry skin I use Equate brane Advanced Recovery skin care works great, cheep, and no oily feeling.
