My 600 lb. life
My opinion is that the show is really heavily edited, so I have no idea what the doctor is really like. He's probably great - we just don't see all of the interactions in the show.

AGREE, ^^^, I watch the show but think there has to be a lot of testing that we do not see, I think it is more about the person than the Dr, I WOULD LOVE to see a show on him, as there are not many Dr. that will take on a over 600 lb person. IMHO

My doc, Dr. Sosa, was on TLC's special last year, 600 lb Mom Race Against Time. My doc was the doc that refused to do the surgery as the woman wouldn't lose down to 500 and he didn't feel she was mentally ready for the surgery. Another doc did the surgery and the woman ate herself to death and died. :(.
I agree. But I wish they showed him offering them AND their family members therapy. For those of us who become morbidly obese, up to the 300 pound range, I believe most of us have issues. I think those issues are significantly greater for someone who gets up to 600+ range and is bedridden.

I think you probably would have some sort of issues in order to get up to 600 lbs. But even if you didn't have issues to begin with, being 600 lbs and bedridden would give you issues, don't you think? And if patients are bedridden, then someone (like their family members) are feeding them, and I'd say that means the family has issues. Because if I was responsible for caring for someone that was 600 lbs and bedridden, I would be serving them healthy food.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
