What's on the menu today, RNY-ers?
Hi DGirl -
I worked in DC for years myself - from Ohio & moved to DC for work. Loved it! An amazing place. Spring & the cherry blossoms- still miss that today!
On the menu today - I have pneumonia (how did that happen?) and between taking the large antibiotics and sleeping, it's hard to eat.
B: Coffee, 1/4 cup pork, no bbq sauce (from dinner last night - BBQ ribs for family)
S: celery slices
L: 1/4 cup tuna fish (found an onion vinaigrette dressing and dill) 2 pcs cucumber (use as bread, stole this from Eggface)
D: 1 cup homemade beef vegetable soup, celery slices
S: pickle, 1/2 of a 5.3 oz Greek yogurt (not together though, LOL)
V: - On track
W: Ughhh...mostly hot teas
E: No energy but own a small "hobby" farm so always running back/forth with the animals
Take care !

Hey Spots-n-Dots! That's awesome you used to live here! It is a really fun city. Much warmer than OH as well (I am originally from MI so I understand winter). I'm sorry to hear you have pneumonia. Whenever I am sick and can't eat much, I think of it as a good kickstart to weight loss lol. I have to find one positive! I hope you feel better, and don't run back and forth with the animals too much, since I know you guys have some snow!
Hey DCgirl -
I lived in Alexandria, VA and took the subway into DC to work. Was there for 12 yrs then transferred back to CLE area. I didn't know anyone in the area when I moved but once there I met some wonderful people who are my dear friends even today. Even though we've all been transferred to different states we still remain close. Enjoy your time in that great place. I enjoyed the hustle/bustle and miss it. Not a lot of hustle/bustle going on here on the farm (LOL). We have goats, chickens, a few cattle, and 3 Dalmatians. My husband still works full-time so I take care of things until he gets home. We do hay/corn and a lot of vegetables in the summer. I have planned a family vacation with my 16 year old son this summer to take him to see all the wonderful things that D.C. has to offer. He has only seen the "sites" on tv or in his school books. My husband (before we were married) would travel once a month from OH to DC to visit with me so he's seen most of D.C. I could use some hotel pointers if you have any.
Take care
Oh awesome! Whenever someone comes to visit, I say "Have you been to DC except for a school trip in 5th grade?" LOL
Hotels - whenever my family comes, I put them in hotels (so as not to drive me insane). I usually look at hotels.com to see what hotels have deals. I often put them at the Dupont Circle Hotel (right on the circle, super swanky and boutiquey but affordable! Great bar!) or the Churchill Hotel. It's really central and you're right on the red line or can take a bus anywhere you need to go! That's awesome that you loved it here :) One downfall to living here is the plethora of amazing restaurants!!! Luckily I can always find a protein, but our lifestyle is definitely to go out and be social in the evenings. Ugh!
Your new life sounds absolutely so different and I am so glad you enjoy it!
Good morning! Little one was up at 7 so I'm cranky lol. Oh I miss when she was a baby and slept longer than me.......
My eats for today:
breakfast: coffee with some milk and sugar (trying it cut useless carbs) made apple oatmeal and about half way through decided it was a bad idea so I tossed it and grabbed some turkey and cheese
lunch: 3 egg bites (spinach and artichoke, yummy! Just would have less green....) salad
snack: protein shake with half milk
dinner: going to make spaghetti and meatballs (no pasta for me)
going to take my vitamins in a bit and pour my first of three 32oz mugs (I can get in 2 working on the 3rd!!)
cal:962 carb:67 protein:83
Try to find the Nasoya pasta zero plus chickpea flour noodles in the refrigerated section - that way you can have "pasta" and meatballs with your family while they have regular noodles :) I love turkey and cheese whether it's for breakfast lunch or dinner! I used to love sweet coffee but I have transitioned to a tiny bit of half and half and two Splendas :) Your egg bites sound awesome. Enjoy the rest of your day! Hopefully you can get to bed early :)
I normally have pasta just didn't want any today, but I'll have to look into that. The bites were really good. I just followed Shelly's recipe and it came out great well, I bought frozen spinach and it was a little overkill. I was worried about how they would taste the next day (I'm very picky about my eggs) and they were better today than yesterday. I'm excited to go shopping for more stuff to make other bites!
