I saw the Doctor Tuesday for the one month visit and to get released to return to work.  He was dissapointed in my weight loss the last two weeks.  He questioned me and tried to find out what the problem was.  I told him what I drink and what I had been eating.  He seemed to think I was not being truthful.. I reminded him that I had lost thirty pounds the two weeks before surgery and the two weeks after surgery.

I told him I was just in a stall.  He said, no you're not in a stall, it's to close to surgery.  The next morning I had lost another five pounds.  I have been walking a good bit and walked over two miles yesterday after work and did other exercises when I got back home.  I feel great and know I will start to lose well again my body was just catching up.  I see the Surgeon again in May for the three month checkup and want to have a good bit of weight off when I see him.  I just wish they wouldn't make all of us cookie cutter pateints and make imolications that I'm lying about what I'm doing.  I'm not worried because I know the effort I am putting into this and know the weight will come off in due time.  Hope everyone is having a great week.

As I have shared in the past based on things you've shared about your surgeon, I am not a fan and don't think he's all that great. He really does not seem to be in the interest of patients, just getting people in and out. :(

Glad you found OH...I know for sure that I am thankful for the information here!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Good for you.  My only suggestion is (and I assume you are) tracking your food/liquid intake on a daily food log (my bariatric facility gave us forms to use).  Take your food diary with you so the doctor can see what you consume daily and the exercise you are getting.  I find the doctor seeing my food intake with measurements ( like 2 T or 2 ounces or 1/4 cup), ounces of fluid and comments of exercise make me "legitimate".  When I just tell him I'm "on program" without the documentation - they think you are lying or rationalizing.  It shouldn't be this way - and I'm not trying to protect the Dr.  just saying that documentation helps.

Best wishes, Penny

Grimtraveler made a good point.  If you watch shows like My 600 lb life, every one of them that see Dr. N. for their post op (or even pre-op) check ups lie like crazy.  They either gain or don't lose at all and say that they are only eating a small amount and staying on program and they are definitely lying.  I like his approach, though.  He does call them out most of the time, but doesn't belittle or make them defensive (even though some of them get defensive because they know they are lying).  I bet this scenario happens all the time.

I'm glad the surgeon didn't discourage you too much!  I'm sure he was trying to help/deter you from getting into bad habits.  I'm glad you let the comments roll of your shoulders and know that everyone is different :) (from what I've read).   I'm sure your journey will be wonderful.  Much love and peace :)
