Do you all do a lot of exercise ? I walk 2 or 3 miles 5 days a week . I use to go to a gym . I don't no more because I moved and none close to where I live. What all do you do? I would guess cardio and weight training. Just was curious.

I walk 4-5 miles a day (according to FitBit) and work out in the gym 3 days a week.  As the weather improves by me, I am going to increase my outdoor walking to 5-6 days a week.

I have not done any formal exercise in years. I do yoga occasionally and that's about it. I am going to start going to the gym until June because I entered a foam 5k race that is the first week in June and I know I'm not in shape enough to do it without a bit of training. But I've never been fond of exercise so I've never really committed to any long term.

Exercise has really helped me.  If I don't move, I don't lose.  That's the truth.

I work out with a personal trainer three times a week.  I realize that's not something everyone can do, but if you wanted to do a comparable workout on your own, I'd describe our sessions as focused on resistance training and weights.  Mark, my trainer, isn't a huge fan of classic cardio.  He'd rather see me do short bursts of cardio than long stretches.  For example--one of his fav things is for me to do 30 seconds on the treadmill running at a brisk pace (6 miles an hour), then 30 seconds walking (at 3-4 mph).  We do maybe four rounds of that at the end of a workout for "conditioning".  We also do a heck of a lot of weight training, mostly with hand weights rather than machines.

In addition to the training, I also do yoga three times a week.  Mark is a fan because he says it builds core strength.  I like it for the flexibility, which is something I don't do much of with Mark, and for relaxation.  I always feel very calm and centered afterwards.

Good luck to you!

Wow, great distance with the walking. Three miles is pretty good. I go to the gym sometimes but I am more of a stay at home DVD person. You are correct the dvds I choose combine cardio and weight training so I can do both simultaneously. There are 3 dvd I usually do Insanity or  T25. But if my knees are hurting or I just want to change it up and still wan to get a medium to high intensity or even low intensity exercise program I always do "Chair-A-Cise". Hope this helps and whatever you do continue to stay active.

I do aerobics 3 times a week and Zumba 2 times a week at my gym.  I need "formal classes" as I realized that I'm not motivated on my own.  BUT, I do give 100 percent in a class situation where an instructor tells us to lift our knees higher and squat lower.

I'm quite surprised there is no gym or fitness center near where you moved to.  Are you sure?  Maybe the center has a funky name that you ordinarily wouldn't associate with an exercise place.  Where did you move to?
