What's on the menu today, RNYers?
Hi Friends,
Spring is here on the east coast of the US, and I for one am welcoming it with open arms. I wonder if I will be less sweaty this summer with all my weight loss :)
A word of advice to those of you who are still in the first few months of weight loss. Get new clothes. I don't care if you go to the mall, to a consignment shop, or rent them from GwinnieBee. Wear clothes that fit!!! I am 77 lbs down since surgery and it wasn't until YESTERDAY with a well-fitting shirt that the compliments were pouring in. What a great motivator! Wear clothes that fit - people will notice!
Time Since Surgery: 15 weeks, 2 days
B: Syntrax Matrix mint cookie shake with unsweetened almond milk
L: Leftover salmon pattie again (gave last two to a friend)
D: Tuna sashimi with avocado
E: Just did 35 minutes on the treadmill and 25 minute personal training session
V: First batch down the hatch
W: 32 oz in at 10:45 am so on my way!
Another random NSV yesterday - I had an eye exam and whereas I used to have to contort to get my chin on the pad and my head against the machine (mostly boob based) - it was a whole lot easier! Who woulda thought? LOL
What's on your menu today?

“Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”― Marc Hack

It is not cheap but it is so delicious beyond words! Mybariatricpantry.com is the place. It's $27 for a 2 lb tub. More than worth it in my opinion! Also, they have the 500 mg caramel chews for calcium citrate.

Rainy and chilly here in Illinois today. You are so right about the clothes and how important fit is. I replaced clothes frequently by using resale shops and Goodwill on the way down because I felt so much better and was more motivated to work when I felt and looked good. B 1/2c steel cut oats with nuts and 1/2 banana with peanut butter L small piece chicken quesadilla and 1/2 c cottage cheese S whole wheat crackers and peanut butter D 3-4 oz tilapia and 1/2 c mixed veggies S 3/4 c Greek yogurt with nuts. Fluids and vitamins are on track. Exercise- 30 minutes treadmill at 4.1 mph on 4% incline and 20 minutes on the stationary bike. 200 crunches before bed too. Have a great day everyone!

Dropped my kids off at school today and they were thrilled to see a bonfire going in the play yard and a big kettle of sap on top. Spring is officially here!
B: 2 eggs, avocado, steamed asparagus, sauerkraut
S: almonds
L: Rutabaga chicken stew (best thing I have ever had) and pureed pumpkin
S: maybe tuna
D: sweet potato, spinach, green beans and some kind of meat, maybe a hamburger patty
I am hanging in there on this wacky elimination diet. I am waiting until next week to start adding foods back in. I can not wait to be able to eat more foods! But it is pretty wonderful to be feeling better. I am taking all my vitamins and supplements and teas and tinctures and good grief, I wish I had a personal assistant who could keep track of it all for me! I did just find out yesterday that I am low on potassium so I have to figure that out. For now I am just eating more avocado. I am not complaining about that! :)
I am going for a walk in a bit, it is beautiful outside. I have a big hike planned for this weekend. I hope my body can handle it with this wacky diet. I am thinking of packing a baked sweet potato and almonds. I wish I liked jerky!
Avocado and I are good friends, as you can see :) I love love love it. It sounds like your elimination diet has been stressful but beneficial. Next week will be here before you know it, fingers crossed! I also don't like jerky - for a long hike, I would probably pack almonds and some string cheese. You could also make a protein shake in a disposable water bottle (don't fill it up to the top) and then freeze it...as it melts through the hike, you can take sips :)
Avocados are wonderful! I am off all dairy too so cheese and protein shakes are out. This makes life really challenging! I am eating all meat, eggs, and vegetables. No vinegar, sugars of any kind, no artificial sweeteners, no grains, no beans, no soy... Challenging! But actually, I could bring eggs. I had not thought of that. Luckily it is warming up. I had a heck of a time this winter because food (and water) would freeze on my hikes.. Frozen hard boiled eggs are miserable by the way. Back then I was eating protein bars and would gnaw at them like a popsicle because they would freeze solid so fast! Also, now that it is warmer I can stop and actually eat instead of eating while moving. I have this new nifty thermos and I could bring soup or stock! That is a good idea, it would help with the electrolytes too. Genius! That is why I love posting like this, I get great ideas. It has been fun to figure out what the heck to eat on big endurance days. It is hard to get in that many calories while moving! Not that I am complaining! Making an effort to eat enough is a whole new thing for me :)
