Strange Craving

Hm, if you check the nutrition label, I think they're often rather fatty. I could see that potentially causing a problem.

Oh yikes - this soon out? Heck, I'm over 5 1/2 years out and I wouldn't touch a hot dog! But I have a "fussy pouch" - so I have kind of learned what I can and can't digest.
If you can possibly wait - wait as long as you can to try those processed meats. When you can tolerate them - I don't see anything wrong with indulging in something you crave.
If you absolutely positively cannot wait - try putting the hot dog in a food processor and breaking it down a little bit. That'll either satisfy you or turn you off to hot dogs for life - lol!
In my opinion, I can't imagine why you would want to do this. You are too soon out of surgery. What will be next? It is time to fight the craving. If we want to be successful with our new tool, we have to work at it and not give in to the head craving. Stick to the plan and follow your doctor's and nut's recommendations. We are in this situation because we all thought we could have just one hot dog or one potato chip "once in a great while" which became and everyday occurence.
this is the time and place for you to decide what your priorities are, your health or a hot dog "once in a great while."
Sorry to be this harsh, but asking us if having a hot dog when you just have had major surgery to help you lose weight, just boggles my mind.
I think it really depends on your pouch. I was at an all day work event only 2 weeks out from surgery and had a hot dog. It definitely was not my ideal choice, but the event was at a baseball park, all of my other options were fried food and I had already eaten like 3 meals of cheese cubes that day. I ate it very slowly without the bun or any toppings and it went down fine. However, I do not plan on making that part of my regular diet. It worked in the situation where it was eat a hot dog or nothing else.
Are you perhaps having a craving for salt and it is translating as 'hot dog'? I ask because when I was early out I would sometimes get a craving for salt--not crappy, salty carbs-straight salt. My diet at that point was quite low sodium. I also had low blood pressure, so adding a smidge of salt was okay for me. As far as the hot dog itself goes, skip it. There are so many other things that are better for you.
