Thyroid Meds

I have been on for at least 10 years and they have been thinning my hair, do you know if the Dr can give me something different. This has nothing to do with surgery my hair has been thinning for years.

See an endo and get your levels checked. May also need to switch to name brand. I had all sorts of issues with the genetic synthroid. Within weeks of going to name brand, the issues improved. Been on synthroid for 18 years now, name brand for 7. 

My thyroid is under active and had numbers checked a few months back and the number was low I think 235.

Go see an endocrinologist rather than your PCP. They specialize in this and will help you more than a PCP. 

I've heard great things about Armour but most doctors won't prescribe it. My brother got lucky and when his thyroid died on him, his doctor put him on Armour and he is himself again. His face, neck, and ankles were enormous and the Armour fixed him right up like he doesn't have a problem at all. I was diagnosed hypo 11 years ago and the Synthroid has only taken care of half the problem. I'm going to talk to my PCP and see if she will try me on it, if not I'm going to his doctor next.
