What's on the menu today, RNYers?
Good morning, everyone! Since our hostess with the mostest is going to be on the road for a few days, here's the WotMTR thread for today (Sunday.) Hope you all have a great day planned!
Last night the husbeast and I went to the movies, something we haven't done in quite a while. We saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and it was really good! I'm not the biggest Cap fan, having grown up reading all the Spiderman comics I could get my hand on, but the movie last night really kept me on the edge of my seat. If the Marvel universe is your thing, it's well worth seeing. Movies means popcorn, of course, and I did indulge. I've never really loved popcorn, either, but this was the best popcorn ever! I think it was the salt that I enjoyed so much, to be honest. The scale is down a slight bit this morning, so I'm confident I didn't overindulge, although I do want to get back on the low-carb horse today. A popcorn treat now and then isn't the end of the world, but I think I could have resisted if I had already done my carb detox.

Oh, and AnnyBannany - you asked about deli meat yesterday. I looked in my plan and didn't see an entry for it specifically, so as I recall I just didn't start it until my regular foods phase (I didn't have a pureed phase.) It is much moister than other meats, though, so I'm thinking you could probably make a spread kind of thing by whizzing deli meat in a food processor and adding a little mayo or Greek yogurt and seasonings. I do a killer braunschweiger spread with the braunschweiger, a little finely minced shallot, mayo and deli mustard. Since I don't do crackers anymore, though, I'm kind of at a loss for what to serve it on...maybe Eggface's cucumber "chips"?
Hope that helps!

Thanks, Pam! I'm not going to lie, whizzing up deli meat sounds gross to me :-( I think I'm going to try a slice and see how it goes. I've been tolerating things well, and as you said, deli meat tends to be moist, so I don't see why it would be a problem. I also don't think it's off plan too much.

Thanks for posting Pam, glad you had a nice date with a good treat! Movie popcorn is wonderful! I like going to the movies, even it is to a "kids movie". LOL! BUT really there is no such thing anymore! LOL! (Really unless it is a cartoon.) I am sure I would enjoy the movie since I raised two sons and have seen the other Marvel movies. Thanks for the heads up! Hope everyone has a good day! I wonder what DCgirl is doing? Had my shake and it was out of this world! On my second cup of coffee, I should be drinking my water by now! I am sluggish this morning! LOL! MUST GET GOING on my water! Oh Anny, you asked about when I started lunchmeats. I looked back at my plan and it says to begin after post op visit. I waited and introduced until I was a month out because I was scared, plus I had other complications which caused me to go back into the hospital and have other surgeries. The best advice I can give you is to remember to take small bites and chew, chew, chew and if it is too tough to chew it will be too tough to digest. Spit it out! Good luck! Be careful and you will be fine!

Good morning, Sara, and good going on the protein and carbs numbers!

Look at those protein numbers! Great job, Sara!
And thanks for your info on the deli meat - I think I am going to try it. I've made my shopping list and added thinly sliced deli turkey to test it out.

Hi, mikaboo, and welcome! How far out from surgery are you? I remember you posted yesterday about a hernia repair, but when was your WLS surgery, and what kind was it?
Hope you're feeling better today!
