'Allo Loves!  Ha ha, not trying to sound pretentious, I just love how everyone in Britain greets you with this!

Pam hasn't posted yet so I am jumping in :)  I have a little more bandwidth today to read and reply :)  (sorry, Pam!  I think you're at personal training so you haven't posted yet!)

I have been keeping up with y'all while I have been traveling - I know I have said it before, but this site really helps me to be accountable!  As we lose weight I see us becoming more active and this is so fantastic.  You guys are inspiring me!

I head back to DC on Thursday night and it will be good to be back on a routine though I have been great at keeping my protein up and working out (I went to the gym 4x last week and walked over 15,000 steps Sat and Sun and over 25,000 yesterday!).

Time Since Surgery: Coming up on 5 months

B: A protein bar - not my best choice but I didn't have time to have anything else

L: Lebanese street food.  Whereas last night I felt like my stomach could hold soooo much food, at lunch I could barely eat 1.5 oz of chicken and 2 tbsp of hummus.  Hmmm.  Brought the leftovers back to the office.

D: I have been craving some sushi!  I am planning to get some!

E: Walked 1.5 miles to office, plan to walk back to hotel too.  Might skip the gym tonight.  I am feeling pretty tired.

V: First batch down, will get second batch in too!

W: I am 30 oz of water in.  Gotta speed it up!

If I have entered it all correctly in MFPn then I will be at 688 calories, 77 g of protein, 23 g of carbs (damn protein bar!) and 31 g of fat.

What's on your menu today?

I have been MIA since Friday because I have been busy. Stayed at Hampton Inn Saturday night and used the fitness room so I kept my regular exercise on track. Post op 20 months and maintaining at 120 for 10 months. B 1/2c steel cut oats with nuts and 1/2banana with peanut butter L 1/2c chicken salad and 1/2 c Greek yogurt S whole grain crackers with peanut butter D Wendy's chili S 3/4 c Greek yogurt with nuts. On track with fluids and vitamins. Ready to head down to workout room for 30 minutes on treadmill at 4.4 mph and 20 minutes on the bike. Will do 200 crunches sometime before bed. Have a great day everyone!

Karen - I am way impressed that you exercised even after moving your son!  Impressed with your exercise.  I should go tonight to the gym!  Perhaps I will!  You are doing so awesome in maintenance :)

Hey Emily! I'm so glad you're having a good trip and that we get to live a bit vicariously through you.

I did the unthinkable yesterday...walked 2 miles in the morning and then went to the gym in the evening and did my elliptical workout - what is happening to me?! Tonight I am finally going to go to water aerobics and I'm excited and nervous. Which pool is it in? Will people point and laugh (I know this is far fetched...but I'm sure we've all been there)? Will I be able to keep up with the old ladies? It's funny/sad how these old insecurities can keep you in their grips - but I'm going to push through tonight and just do it.

Time since surgery: 7 weeks, today

B: 2oz cottage cheese, 2oz mixed fruit in water

S: 12oz Nectar Lemon Tea protein shake

L: 2oz deli turkey, 1 cheese stick

S: 12oz Nectar Lemon Tea protein shake

D: 2oz Eggbeaters, 1oz turkey sausage crumble, 1 slice of colby-jack cheese, 1oz unsweetened applesauce

S: 12oz Nectar Lemon Tea protein shake

TOTALS: Calories 621, Fat 11.6, Carbs 23.9, Protein 102.8

V: on track

W: I've been rocking liquids lately and trying to keep on schedule

E: water aerobics and maybe the elliptical depending on how intense the Aquacize is!

I was going over my eating plan from my NUT last evening and it talks about eating 2oz of protein and then adding 2oz of "other" food. I've been doing applesauce and a few steamed veggies - but I'm wondering - What are your favorite "other" foods?

Anny, I so hear you about the insecurities thing. See my post below about my first trip to the gym today. I was just waiting for people to stare and laugh, but that didn't happen. Everyone is focused on their own thing, which I suspect is the norm in most places. That doesn't make it much easier, but it helped somewhat when I realized it today.

Other foods...hmm. I've been really craving asparagus this spring, and like to add it to my daily intake whenever possible. I'm lucky in that I've always loved veggies, the only thing is that I used to like them cooked about halfway between raw and al dente and unfortunately now I have to make sure they're much more cooked. Mashed cauliflower, tender steamed green beans, avocado, broccoli, cabbage, a tiny salad of lettuce, baby spinach, tomato and a smidgen of finely shredded carrot. I really really really want to like kale, but so far I haven't found a way to prepare it that tingles my tastebuds.

The NUT told me to stay away from asparagus for now - too stringy - which makes me sad since it's a veggie I actually like! My biggest problem right now is I really am not a fan of cooked veggies - so I'm trying to get used to them. Avocado sounds good to me though. Oh and mashed cauliflower - yum! Thanks for your suggestions!

I totally waste most of the asparagus and only eat only the tender part, like the top two inches. Someday I'll come across a really awesome asparagus soup recipe and find a use for all the bottoms I end up throwing in compost!

I'm with you on the cooked vs. raw veggies, I much prefer my veg cooked just barely al dente. My pouch has let me know that it finds crunchy veggies unacceptable at this point, however.

Anny - isn't that awesome!  I love that you surprised yourself!!!  It's not something you would have done 50 lbs ago, am I right?  You should not worry abou****er aerobics.  You will do great.  I love seeing how active we are all getting!

Other foods...I don't make great choices on "other foods".  I just eat protein, and sometimes hummus or guacamole or some other slider foods.  I try to have a few bites of veggies every now and then.  I am still generally doing a shake at one meal, so I can easily eat meat the other two meals.  I want to be as hardcore as possible for as long as I can...and then figure out maintenance when the time comes, I guess :)  I am super curious to see what other people say about "other" foods.  Might give me some ideas.

Your protein number is awesome.  Man, I am beyond impressed.  I have to try Nectar Lemon Tea.

I'm sort of thinking along the same lines, Emily. I'd rather have 4 oz of cottage for breakfast than 2oz of cottage cheese and 2 oz of fruit. I don't want to use up my calories on non-protein... but I suppose having at least some carbs keeps out brains functioning....

When you eat guac...do you put it on chicken? Eat it by the spoonful? Do tell.

Oh I will eat it with a fork! Also on chicken, with sashimi (love raw tuna and avocado!) as well as with cooked shrimp and even on 99% fat free ground turkey made with taco seasoning. Avocado has "good" fat supposedly, and some carbs. I love it. It is a slider food however so be careful because you can eat a lot and the calories load up quick. Mashed cauliflower with garlic and a bit of cheese and salt and pepper is amazing!!!
