Sick of being sick! I just want to eat!

I don't want to complain! I am glad I had the surgery, because of the weight loss. Of course I am only 6 weeks out, but my head is damned stubborn! I just want to eat sooooo bad! I am not constantly sick, but lose my lunch/dinner about 2-3 times a week. It is probably something I am doing (not chewing well enough or eating too fast), but it is still irritating! When does it ever even out? When can I stop consoling my husband by telling him  "it will get better"? He feels so bad for me when I get sick.

I still puke on a fairly regular basis (couple of times a week) - it is dysfunctional, but unfortunately it's often just hit or miss - not chewing properly, eating reheated food, eating something too dry - who the heck knows most of the time!

It was way worse in my earlier years than now and I believe *most* people get past the puking stage.

Sorry, it's all I have, I just wanted you to know you are not alone

It get's better but it takes awhile. Re-revaluate what your doing. Drink a lot of shakes so your getting your protein. I'm 15 months out & I ate too fast tonight & had to force myself to throw up since the food wasn't sitting right.

Slow down, chew a lot, get your protein in, drink LOTS of fluids. TRUST ME it's worth it in the end

I don't pewk, can't actually, but I still get sick frequently.  RNY is a miracle for weight loss but it comes at a cost.  My company started bringing in bagels and cream cheese on Thursday, I ate less then half a bagel with a flavored cream cheese and thought I was gonna have to go home and lie down because I was so sick from a sweetened cream cheese, it was bad.  I never eat at work and now I am reminded why.

Good Luck.

I have a confession: I was a champion puker for the first three months after surgery. It was partly because of a stricture and partly my own fault because I didn't chew well enough or eat slowly enough. It took me quite a while to develop good enough habits for the vomiting to slow down a bit, but I can still count on doing it if I forget how to eat. Even when I remember, sometimes new foods will irritate my pouch enough to make me vom, like last night's broccoli. I very very rarely feel nauseated, rather it's just a feeling of "Oops, time to hurl" and up it comes. I've kind of gotten used to it, to be honest.

My hubby was terribly worried about me too when things were at their worst, especially when it didn't seem like there was a real reason for the vomiting. But it did get better, and I think it will for you too. It's hard to be patient, but try, and keep telling your hubby you are so glad he's supporting you, but it will get better. It will!

At six weeks out, I was starting solids and was still trying to figure out what works. I think I threw up about four times after starting solids and that was after i ate either chicken or left overs and on all occasions i think the food was too dry. It took about two weeks for me for everything to settle down and i never threw up again from food related issues. Now at almost seven months out, i can tolerate all foods with no problems. Rice, pasta, bread included. Hope everything settles down for you quick which i'm sure it will.

It all depends on how you tolerate certain things.  I used to have to throw up pretty frequently.  I think I have a very sensitive pouch.  I'm almost 18 months out now, and I probably only have difficulty about once a week or longer.  I still don't tolerate certain things and sometimes I eat too fast, don't chew well enough or things are too dry.  It's a learning process and everyone is different.
