Hello Everybody!  I'm back from China/Korea!!!!  Thank God, it was a loooong trip and all business, I did however learn some things about WLS while there.

First, as you may or may not remember I was in quite the stall before I left.  While overseas every single meal was a business lunch/dinner, and the custom in both China and Korea is to order for the guest.  Not ideal.  Luckily, the custom is also to order what felt like 100 different dishes, which was great b/c it allowed me to choose protein forward options.  I tried to track everything in MFP, but since I didnt' know the names of any of the dishes, it was guess work at best.  Long story short, my calories were generally up (usually between 1000 -1100), which was freaking me out and I was convinced I would come back and have gained weight.  Well, good news, I stepped on the scale this morning and I'm down 6 lbs!  I think the extra calories may have helped, plus eating a ridiculous amount of fish for 8 days straight :)

One other thing I'd like to share/pass along.  So while in Korea, I got 8 (yes 8) very painful cold sores on the inside of my mouth.  I was convinced I'd contracted some rare asian type flu and was really freaked out.  I went to my dentist to get a prescription and learned some very valuable information that pertains to us WLS patients.  So, I have to admit that I was horrible about taking my vitamins while on this trip, because I was out of my routine, I just flat out forgot to take them the entire trip except 1x (this includes everything: my multi, iron, calcium, and B12).  So, I go to my dentist, and low and behold he tells me that cold sores (only the sores inside the mouth, not canker sores, which are outside) are the direct result of vitamin deficiency, specifically iron, B12 and calcium (only everything we take)!  He gave me a mouth wash to speed up the healing time, but said the main thing I can do to help is to get back into my vitamin routine.  Anyways, I thought that was incredibly interesting and was shocked to learn that.  I wanted to pass on the info, b/c I can tell you these cold sores SUCK! So please, take your vitamins :)  I don't think I'll be forgetting any time soon!

DodgerGirl welcome back!!!  We have missed you too!  I wondered how you were getting on - seems like you just left and I am so glad you are back!  Also, CONGRATS on losing 6 lbs!  That is how my two week trip was - I was eating more calories but kept on plan and walked a ton and lost weight.  So happy for you.  I cannot believe you are having 3 shakes to eat today and that's all???  I would be hungry!

INSANE about the cold sores.  Holy crap that would stress me out.  I get off routine when I am traveling too but I am most definitely staying as close as I can to my routine while I am out two weeks later this month!  You have a very cautionary tale!

Anyway, welcome back, have a great trip tonight to buy your normal and routine foods and glad to have you back on the post!!!

Welcome back! Glad your trip was successful. 6 pounds down while traveling is such an awesome feat. Ok, 6 pounds down period is pretty awesome, but even better when traveling.

What do you think of the 30 Day Shred? I know a few people who try it, but I don't know if I'm up to it!

I like the 30 day shred.   To be honest, I haven't done it for 30 consecutive days (like I promised myself I would), but when I do do it, I feel like its a good hard workout in a short period of time.  So I feel like I'm getting my "money's worth" so to speak.  Also, there are modifications, so for the exercises that I'm not quite up to, there are easier versions.  I find Jillian a little annoying, but I do find a push myself pretty hard when I do that DVD, so it's worth it.

Sounds like everyone is having a busy but good day today. Congrats on a bmi under thirty and on losing weight while traveling. Sorry about the not so nice family guests,Pam. I am so lucky because my MIL is a sweetheart. I actually get along better with her than I did my mother when she was alive. I have a busy day too, hence the late post. I had errands to run and laundry to do and in a bit I have to grocery shop for the local food pantry. I did get my walk in with Lily though early this morning. We did our three miles before 7 am!
