What's on the menu today, RNYers?
Heh, yesterday was interesting, to say the least. I was concerned that the nephew (my husbeast's cousin) would not be in sync with what we see in my MIL's behavior and attitudes, but come to find out he claims his mother is exactly the same way! (I took him to lunch, just the two of us, to get to know him a bit and so we could talk frankly.) Now, we never see that in her, but he says that while she's not quite as bad about it as my MIL she still is driving him mad. So, it was nice to get confirmation that it's not just us (husbeast and me)!

Em,
It sounds like your "rut" is healthy, so it's still a good place to be. I say that from week 2 of my surgery which is rut city. (LOL)
NSV: I am now not taking three medications and I still feel great! (Which is huge for me, huge, I tell you!)
B: Iced Latte protein shake (I need both the liquid and the protein and it seems like the only water I'm getting down successfully.)
L: Cream of mushroom/chicken strained (⅛ of a cup)
S: sugar free popsicle
D: Chocolate protein shake
W: OMG this one is hard! I'm counting the 16 oz from my protein shakes and praying today I make goal.
V: one down, one to go.
Thanks for keeping the board alive.
Hey Amber! OMG week 2 is total rut city! It gets better, I promise! I mean, my rut is filled with delicious, protein-forward meals. With cheese, cauliflower, turkey...not to make you drool, but just to let you know that the weeks of straining soup and eating pudding will soon be behind you. Other than a protein shake for breakfast (just a personal choice because my pouch isn't very hungry in the morning and it helps me hit a good protein number) I eat all normal food now! You will be there sooner than you realize. And I didn't have any intolerances as I introduced things into my diet. No issue with eggs, or chicken, or ground turkey. I hope it's the same for you! Have an awesome day :)
Amber, you're doing great! Like Emily said, it will only get better from here, so hang in there. Your protein shakes totally count toward your fluid intake, by the way, so by all means count them. Have you tried savory stuff like broths to help hit your fluid numbers? Also, think about trying water/liquids at different temperatures. Some people have better luck with warm or hot beverages, others with room temp or cold, so you may want to experiment and see which work best for you.

Definitely count your protein shakes towards your water! As far as I'm concerned (and I think the others will agree) it's LIQUID not necessarily water. I count my protein shakes and coffee into my fluid ounces for the day.

Yep yep! For purposes of getting in X amount of liquids, shake = fluid = water = liquids. Count it all! (Even SF popsicles!)

You are not beating a dead horse with this thread,at least as far as I'm concerned. I look forward to reading and posting here each day and it helps make me accountable. I feel like I get in a rut too sometimes, but some of that is that I have so many leftovers. Some meals just seem to last and last and some times like with ham and beans, some even ends up in the freezer. Lily and I did not get our walk this morning as it was raining. It's stopped now but we are waiting on window installers to come in and put in a living room window. I've been bustling around getting rooms ready to lock the cats in and Lily's crate is in the kitchen ready for her to go in. Exercise later will be treadmill for 30 and 20 minutes of Jillian Michaels. We have a love/hate relationship for sure! On track with vitamins and fluids so far. Here's the eats B 1/2c steel cut oats with but mix and 1/2 banana with peanut butter L 1/2c chicken salad with 1/2 c Greek yogurt S whole grain crackers with peanut butter D 31/2 oz deli turkey and cheese and 1/2 c pea pods S 3/4 c Greek yogurt with nut mix. Hope everybody has a good Hump Day!
Hey Karen! Good morning! Ok, thanks...I will keep it going for a while anyway. I like the accountability as well. It has just been so slow on the site recently. I think people likely lose their weight, feel successful, and go on living their lives without needing OH. I can see how that would happen - once you reach maintenance, how many times can you answer another post about vitamins or the 3 week stall? LOL
Sounds like you are busy as always. I am always shocked at how much you get done so early!
And I hear ya on leftovers. Hence why I hope I don't food poison myself today with turkey meatballs from Friday. I am so bad at knowing when something has gone bad...
Morning, Karen! Did you get some of those crazy thunderstorms this morning? We had one come through that woke me from a sound sleep at 5:30, the thunder sounded like it was right over our house! I'm not a huge fan of thunderstorms when they're that close.
As always, your menu and your exercise regimen in maintenance is inspiring. I'm glad you continue to post here!

I lost most of my pre surgery weight with Jillian Michaels tapes - so I totally get the love/hate relationship! She kicks your butt, you cuss her out and then later when the pounds are melting away you can't help but be grateful. Dang her hide anyhow! I can't wait for the pain to stop so I can start back up to my exercise routine.
