What's on the menu today, RNYers? Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday everyone. It's been a while since we have talked protein shakes. I am enjoying a Syntrax matrix mint cookie one right now...what are your faves? I know it's totally subjective, but I am curious what you all like. Also, can anyone help me to make a non-clumpy coffee protein drink? I have tried to whisk it, shake it, let it cool, Click Mocha, Javapro brand etc...and all clumps!
Time Since Surgery: 6 months 2 weeks
B: Syntrax mint cookie with unsweetened almond milk (how are there so many almond milks?! I use the 30 calorie per cup one)
L: Leftover shrimp fajitas from Sunday night - no beans, rice or tortilla
D: Half of a Flat-Out Italian Light wrap in the toaster oven with 2 tbsp spaghetti sauce, 1/4 cup italian cheese, 7 turkey pepperoni
S: Not sure yet - maybe none
E: 50 minutes personal training at lunch, will try to do treadmill but it's So. Damn. Hot. and I am sluggish
V: Just took 'em
W: Gotta get on it
ETA: Totals so far are 600 calories, 62 g protein, 26 g carbs, 28 g fat. Will have to add a snack in for more protein.
Tonight I am treating myself to a massage - my upstairs neighbor is a massage therapist and one hour is $40!!! It can't come soon enough! Anything special planned for today? Em
I don't do protein drinks anymore and never really found one that I liked. As soon as I could get my protein through food I did so I am no help whatsoever there. A massage sounds wonderful! Just thinking about it makes me relax. Lily and I took a shortened walk today because it started to rain but I finished the three miles in the basement on the treadmill when we got home. I will do 20 minutes on the bike when I finish my coffee. I hope to get some sewing done. I'm making a denim skirt because I can't find one that I like in the store. I need to do better on my liquids today as I only got 74 ounces yesterday and with this heat I like to get closer to 100 ounces. So that's my goal for today. 22 months post op and weight at 120.4 today. On track with vitamins and working on 30 ounces of liquid. Here's the eats: B 1/2 c steel cut oats with berries and nuts and 1/2 banana with peanut butter L 3/4 c ham and beans and 1/3 of a corn muffin S apple with peanut butter D baked skinless chicken thigh and 1/2 c garbonzo beans and mushrooms S Greek yogurt. Have a great day everyone!
I have two sons, one who couldn't sew on a button if his life depended on it and one who was the only boy in our county to ever take sewing as a 4-H project. He is a meticulous seamstress--I am not,I just get it done. He was so particular that one year he made as fleece jacket and a pair of blue jeans and won the award for best construction and was picked to go to the state fair. He also knits and crochets too and says it relaxes him. I don't know how two boys grew up so different but they did!
Good morning everyone, or Happy afternoon since I'm in London :)
B: Piece of toast with one tablespoon of natural Almond Nut Butter, and 5 strawberries.
L: Half cup raw baby spinach, chickpeas, chopped onion with balsamic vinegar. 3 chicken drumsticks. (I was hungry!)
D: Turkey meatloaf with braised purple cabbage
S: Protein shake. (One cup almond milk, one cup water, two scoops Syntrax Cappuccino)
Exercise: 30 minute walk plus 45 minutes with my trainer.. My thighs are burning today!
vitamins: eeeek... Someone smack me, I need to get better!
Hope everyone is getting some beautiful sunshine.. The sun seems to be hiding here today!
Angela - I loooove London! Are you living there? I love love love that city. I just got home from there one week ago. I find that when I eat out in London I have to go for other ethnic foods - British "pub" food isn't super WLS friendly in my experience. Your menu sounds good. I love turkey meatloaf.
I am also a "whoops better take my vitamins I forgot!" kind of person and we both deserve a smack. It's not optional. We have to get better, and take them for the rest of our life.
We have enough sunshine and heat for you and anyone else who wants it. It will be 100 today with the heat index. Ouch.
Enjoy your day!
I do live in London now, I moved here about six months ago to be with my fiancé.. Love it here, but I agree, a lot of standard food here is not WLS friendly! That's why I prefer to cook everything myself, or go out for sushi. I don't eat red meat a lot, but there are some phenomenal steak restaurants around here.
i agree about the vitamins.. I've preemptively taken out all of my vitamins for tomorrow!
My Dr wants me to start weaning off of protein shakes and only use them as meal replacements. I don't particularly love them anyways. The only thing I have planned other than work is hanging out with a good girlfriend I haven't seen in a while!
B: 1/2 sandwich thin, 1.5 oz chicken, 1oz muenster
L: 2.2oz chicken, 1/4 cup shredded cheese (making a tortilla-less quesadilla)
D: I never know
W: trying
V: on track
E: walking and walking (swam my butt off last night and it felt so good!)
I find that my pouch doesn't always love food first thing in the morning, so starting a day with a protein shake ensures I get 20-25 g of protein in whereas my pouch could never get that much protein in from food at 8 am. I don't generally have them as snacks in between meals, and I didn't love them either until I got Syntrax Matrix mint cookie. I swear, it sounds like I get a commission from them but I don't - I just am so happy to find a shake that I think tastes good :)
50 lbs down, eating well, and exercising. I hope you feel really, really good. You should! Now go buy new clothes that fit, and the compliments will pour in!
