antibiotic question

I have a sinus infection, am almost 8 weeks out from surgery, and was given a z-pack today. I am limited on what antibiotics I can take that I am not allergic to. It is messing with my whole intestinal system. So instead of being constipated, I am now the opposite and it started right after I took the meds. Anyone else have this problem? Is this expected?

Ask a pharmacist or talk to your doctor. Lots of people have GI issues with antibiotics.  Are you taking probiotics or eating yogurt with live cultures?  That might help.

Hope you get relief soon.  As a fellow sinus sufferer, I understand how you feel.

I had a yogurt just before. I am thinking maybe it is because i had to take two pills at once. Tomorrow it is only one pill. On top of it, I suffer from high cranial pressure, so you add that in, then add in the migraine, and nausea I have been having all day long, oh it is has been a joy on this very hot day. I have also taken a zofran, at least that helped and I was able to eat.

I don't have any issues in the BM department but I have noticed when I've taken them they take waaaaay longer to kick in. Malabsorption I'm gathering. Luckily haven't needed them much post-op. I don't seem to get sick as much with all the vitamins I guess.

Feel better! Keep the water up!!

Thanks, I am prone to sinus infections with all my environmental allergies plus low immune system. Water is about the only thing that I can drink or eat that doesn't make me feel super sick.

You can also take some probiotics to help. That is what's in yogurt but with many more healthy bacteria than yogurt can give you. I bought a chewable one at Vitamin Shoppe recently. Antibiotics kill the good bacteria with the bad.
