Labs, Month 8
I hear there are a lot of labs to be done but I have only had a few since surgery. My surgeon never orders many. I have read a lot of stories here about getting 30 blood tests or vials of blood. Is that to much blood to take at one time ? I want to ask my Dr to get some labs but need to know how to explain about so many labs so my Insurance will pay. What are the important labs to get now ? I have Medicare and Medicaid.
Cost of the labs is something you have to consider. When I was without insurance coverage, I had only minimal labs done that year. The labs that my doctor usually ordered would have cost me over $3,000. Because I was self-pay that year, I opted for labs that totaled just under $1,000. You can check with you insurance plan to see what they will cover and how much of a copay you may end up with.
The number of tubes taken can vary depending on how the lab does the testing.
I have Medicare now and my doctor uses these labs and codes with Malabsorption After Surgical Procedure 579.3

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I have Medicaid and Medicare and did not have to wait 6 months. My mental assessment was not to bad just he asked me the same question several times to see if I change my answer. He wants to make sure you do not have an eating disorder. That you have some control over food. That you are mentally prepared. It will be fine.
