Appearing now as "Overweight" no longer starring as "Morbidly Obese"

I have never been so pleased to be categorized as 'overweight' on a BMI calculator. Down 80lbs since surgery on Feb 27/2014.

I find myself wanting to stray from my program of eating, vitamins, etc on a regular basis, but that doesn't work. Once I get honest with myself, I can usually get back on track fairly quickly. "Head Hunger" is a huge issue for me - please don't underestimate this for yourself. I have lost both of my parents since I had surgery and rather than be grateful for my own health, I resorted back to trying to soothe myself with comfort food. Luckily, being only a few months out, my body said 'NO WAY'...however, I have realized that I need to really work on better coping skills as my tool of restriction may not always be there.

I am learning to love myself in a healthier way. My diabetes is in remission, no more meds for that. My high blood pressure is gone, ease of movement is increasing and it seems my sleep apnea is all but gone (need a sleep test to determine that)

I am thankful that I didn't wait longer to have this surgery. I am grateful for all the support I have received from other members of our WLS community.

Stay honest, write it down, tell a friend, be well :) xo

Congratulations on your huge accomplishment.  My mother passed away a few months prior to my surgery from complications of diabetes.  She never knew that my diabetes went into remission and my having a normal weight.  I think we all tend to think about slidding back to our old eating habits.  Just stay strong and enjoy your journey

Congratulations and thanks for your open and honest post. Sometimes for newbies such as myself it gets a little disheartening to hear all these stories of success WITHOUT hearing stories of struggle as well. As a newbie it is great to hear that having a struggle with head hunger is normal AND at the same time encouragement that we can overcome the struggle with effort! Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on your achievements. I keep a list of my victories posted on my frig for those days when straying would be easy. Just keep making good choices and you will be at goal!
