Frustrated with my surgeon...
I am so frustrated. I was supposed to have my 3 month check up (at 4 months) yesterday, but they had scheduled me for the day before. I purposefully scheduled it for yesterday because it was my day off from school. As a teacher it is so hard to take days off, it is just more work for me, and I especially don't want to take it off just for an appointment that says you are doing well keep it up. Needless to say I was told that they wouldn't be able to fit me in unless I took time off work. So my 3 month appointment got moved to 5 months after being told by the receptionist that my Dr likes to see patients every 4-6 weeks for the first year. So when the surgeon yells at me for not coming in, I will kindly point out that his staff refuses to work with my schedule. I am finding that many Drs are going to this. They don't want to take patients after 3 or 3:45 and insist that you take off work to make it. I am at the point of saying that I will just have my PCP do my check ups. She knows what to look for, and she will squeeze me in between patients if she doesn't have any openings. If I had sick days I would just take the time off, but I don't because of a week in the hospital and at with kidney stones.

Most doctors offices are not open in the evening anymore or weekends. I call their office and ask for a script to do your labs.I am sure they would send it to you.
When I go see my surgeon I am in and out in ten minutes. So to take a whole day off is silly.Luckily I have my own business that I can leave then come back and stay later.
I would want my labs done at least. If they can't help you I would go to your PCP so you know you are doing okay.
I wasn't supposed to have labs done this time. It was just a check-up. If I go to his main office I drive 45 minutes to get there for a 20 minute appointment, which yes I do have to take the whole day off just because of how far away my work is from them. I am probably going to call my PCP and discuss with her about labs since I need to do some for her in a few weeks anyway.
I don't my next day is November 11th. We don't do columbus day any more because he didn't discover america.

You were aware preop that follows ups were going to be necessary. It's not up to them to adjust their schedule. I know it's frustrating but it is part of the deal. Also. If you have complications it will be brought up if you kept up with your follow ups.
