Some good protein snacks are: deli meat like chicken or turkey, cheese, cottage cheese, and Greek yogurt. All these are good protein but the denser foods like deli meat or cheese will leave you feeling full longer.

Thanks for the protein suggestions! I'm taking my vitamins daily. I'm very hard on myself and just don't want to fail. I am drinking more water. I was having a hard time trying to balance everything... Getting in all the protein and water. I'm doing better.

I was feeling sort of down after reading some of these posts. I am not trying to self sabotage. My pouch is bigger than most people's and I am feeling hunger to the point of headaches and sick feeling. I'm going to do the best I can and not obsess about it. Thanks for the protein suggestions. I will take into consideration the other information.

I too went from band to RNY and probably have a larger pouch.  I asked the surgeon what size it ended up being and was told it was the right size for me.  I took that to mean he didn't want me to obsess over it.  Try eating soft protein foods in smaller amounts and see if the cramping lets up.  An example would be no more than 1/4 cup of chili.  Can you start your day with a protein drink that has a lot of protein?  At one month I was making myself drink one for the first meal that had close to 30 gms of protein to start my day as I wasn't able to eat enough protein throughout the day.  It took me anywhere from 30 minutes to 60 minutes to fini****  I'm lactose intolerant so lactose gives me horrible cramps. I've read postings that many are lactose intolerant post op for awhile - have you noticed if lactose could be causing you problems?  I do know that I often think I am hungry when I'm having stomach aches but it is not hunger but an upset stomach and digestive system.  I have an IBD so live with a certain amount of discomfort and have learned over time not to confuse with hunger.   I also think I'm hungry when I'm actually thirsty.  Lack of water will cause horrible headaches, cramping and weakness as well.  I personally can tell if I'm drinking enough water by the color of my urine.  As long as it is clear, I know I am good.  It all gets better so hang in there.  : )

Thank you Cherokeesage for your response. I will look at the protein shakes that I have. I know that they are premier 100 calorie chocolate. I will check about the lactose. They have about 18 grams of protein. I drink those as a snack.

i have been trying deli meat and cheese to help with protein. I'm getting in majority of my water. The water was causing cramping.

I'm Going to stop obsessing and allow my body to heal.

Thanks.
