3 1/2 years out

Hello I had RNY in April 2011.  I went from 347 down to 207.  Still want to lose 20 more pounds.  Ideas? Suggestions? Is there a revision that you have to have done after surgery? I go see the Dr. about plastics next month. I want a tummy tuck/lift to get rid of this "apron".  I wonder if I need to lose 20 more before this?

What is a typical day's eating for you? It is hard to offer specific suggestions when we don't know what you ordinarily eat.

I still stick to a high protein diet, get my water in, breakfast may be 1/2 cup oatmeal and some type of fruit, salad for lunch and then chicken or fish for dinner with veggies.  Still can't tolerate red meat that well.

From what I saw when a friend had plastic surgery post-wls, she lost 20# after the plastic surgery.

Talk to your plastic surgeon and see what he suggests.

Do you have a lot of excess skin? I have a lot, according to my plastic surgeon, about 15 lbs. Maybe after your surgery you'll lose the rest...

I have some but to say alot I am not sure.  MY biggest problem is everything just needs to be lifted. Especially my tummy with that goshdarn awful "apron"!  Thank you :)

No, there is not a revision you have to get done after surgery.  If something is wrong with your initial surgery, there are revisions you can have done.  But if you've lost all you want to lose except 20 lbs, it does not sound like you need a revision.

Ask your doctor if you should lose the 20 lbs before having plastics done.  Of course, you'll lose a few pounds when you have plastics done.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Just in case a tummy tuck is some of your reason for thinking it will aid in the 20 more pounds you want to lose, it's worth mentioning surgically-removed skin doesn't weigh all that much.  A recent support group member had her tummy, back, and breasts worked on at the same time---the removed skin amounted to roughly 12 pounds total.

I also have more weight to lose.  I keep plugging along just shy of Onederland.  Today, I renewed my driver license and put 199 as my weight--I'm in Onederland at the DMV, anyway!  It wouldn't take much brains to guess 199 is a bogus weight on anyone's driver license.  Dang, should have written down 198...next time :)

Thanks for the information.  Did your friend also have liposuction at the same time?
