paranoid I didn't actually have RNY
I too worry that I will have a sleeve done v/s RNY. I have had to nearly beg the surgeon for the RNY. The insuance was filed and they approved the sleeve and I had to correct the office gal/surgery scheduler that I was supposed to be signed up for the RNY. I got the letter, over the weekend from my insurance, the RNY was approved for the date I was told in the office, 11/12. Thank you for the idea to write it on my belly pre op! I already had a lap band and failed that... I will not fail again.

If my belly didn't make weird sounds after I ate and the amount of food I eat, I would wonder if I had surgery at all. Other than the first day post op, I have had no pain and no issues (knock on wood). I was torn between the sleeve and the RNY but my insurance wouldn't cover the sleeve, so RNY was my only option.
A few ways one could tell it is RNY and not the sleeve. If you have had the "foamies" you will know it is RNY!! No doubt about it. Also when your pouch is full, your nose will run or you will get the hic ups...If you eat another bite you will get the foamies. One last way to tell...(I do not recommend...Warning warning!! do not listen to the crazy guy!!). The next time you pull a muscle...Take 1 or 2 Ibuprofen with milk. When I take one...Usually about once a year (and I just take 1 or 2 a day for muscle strain). But when I do take one, it will irritate the lining of my old stomach. That is the only time I can sense the old stomach is when I take an aspirin or and Ibuprofen.
Did you have a leak test following surgery? I saw so shocked to see my new anatomy! Totally an interesting view inside!
