My doctor requires 1,000 calories a day for 2 weeks before surgery.

I didn't have to do a liquid diet either.  Nothing by mouth after midnight the day before surgery and nothing spicy or fatty for 24 hours before.  My husband and I went out for dinner the night before surgery.

I also swallowed whole pills from the time I came out of the operating room (no crushed pills for me).  And I drank full caffeinated coffee in the hospital.

I had no pre-op diet, except for liquid only the day before surgery and nothing after midnight. I had no problems at all.

Same here, no pre-op diet required.  Consider yourself lucky. It sounds like some of the pre-op diets the folks on here have had to go through were tough.

Nope, I didn't have to do one.

I am on day 3 of the pre-op diet and it is TORTURE....... 17 more days to go! I wish so badly I could even eat some salad, or steamed veggies, or some chicken, but apparently it is all a bit NO NO! Struggling with this more than I could have ever imagined.
