Premier Protein

My Walmart just started carrying this but am told that they don't make whey Isolate it is now whey carbonate and RNY patients do not absorb the carbonate. Please help is this true? Thanks!!

I know many RNYers who use Premier including me, and I do just fine. ( I am 3 weeks post op)

Is it the premier protein Costco carries? I just looked it up online here then called their customer service number. It is made with whey isolate there has been no change to their ingredients she said. I use that brand as well once in a while. It's the only one I can chug back. 

Your right if the protein your using doesn't contain whey isolate we should not use it as we do not absorb that protein.

HRRH, my centre is very serious about your protein intake. Please be careful and follow your centres directions.

The ingredients on their website say a protein mix and it says Whey protein concentrate as one of them. Don't think it's that we don't absorb it at all, Isolate is just absorbed better. I read something once that it doesn't make as much difference the further out you are, not sure if that is true though. I guess maybe because we have less malabsorption the further out you are.

I LOVE Premier Protein. It is the BEST protein shake ever! I don't even think of it as a protein shake. I crave it so much during the day. Just like a cold glass of chocolate milk to me. It's absolutely amazing! It's recommended by many surgeons so I assume it shouldn't be a problem. Don't take my word for it though. Call your surgeon!

I agree 100%! Love these things and consider them a treat 

Premier Protein is one of the few protein drinks that my surgeon considers appropriate for meal replacement.
