I have a cold and I have tried all of the Tylenol cold medicine and it has done absolutely nothing. My go to BEFORE surgery was Niquel. What are you all taking for folds? Is Niquel and TheraFlu safe to take?

I took Sudafed PE Pressure, pain and cough.  It worked great till I got amoxicillin from the Dr.

Thanks so much my doc does not want to give me anything yet. Wants me to let it run it's course with OTC. I am keeping a list for the next time I have a cold.

I have taken Nyquil and did ask my doc about it. He said it was 'ok' to take it but wouldn't recommend it on a normal basis. Also, be wary of the liquid as it contains LOTS of sugar. I will caution you though, your tummy will absorb it so quickly it will knock you outcold. lol

My suggestion would be to double check with your doctor and if he oks it, make sure you take it immediately before you lie down to sleep. It seriously hits THAT quickly.

Thanks so much you made my day! Niquel has always worked well for me in the past. I was just not sure if it was safe after RNY. Thanks for also mentioning the sugar, I had not even thought about that!

As a cold is a virus, it will just clear up if you do nothing ...

There is no reason why Tylenol, Nyquil or any of the others won't work now - so just use them judiciously.   Nyquil will definitely help you sleep.

Thanks so much for responding! I agree that it will eventually go away, however I am pretty miserable until then so the OTC medicine just helps ease some of the symptoms until it finally goes away.
