Ferritin dropping - possibly due to iron tablet coating?
I took the feosol's iron but I broke it in half with a pill splitter. I don't know if that helps it absorb better. My doc had me stop taking it for a month because my ferriitin levels were in the 200's and I had some liver issues which having too much iron I was told can effect it. Tomorrow I go get labs drawn again to check my levels for everything. Then start taking iron again.
Thanks. My liver is good now and my ferritin was in the 30's. I started taking iron again today. :)
Other things can interfere with iron absorption too, like caffeine, and tannic acid, which tea has. But it's likely not that.
The Sundown Perfect Iron is like cardboard, but they dissolve really, really fast, and go right down. I would go back to those in preference to the coated pills.
There are other types of iron in addition to the ferrous salts and carbonyl, but I don't have personal experience with them. I think heme iron is the most popular option, and is supposed to be absorbed really well. I think it's more pricey though.

I don't know if the coating would make a difference or not. But if your ferritin dropped a lot when you switched brands, I would switch back.
The other option might be to just take more iron. how much have you been taking? My iron did OK for the first few years, then my ferritin dropped a lot. I now take 300 mg carbonyl iron a day.
