What's on your menu today, RNYers? Monday!
Hi OH friends,
Anny is under the weather today so I offered to start the post! I didn't post AT ALL last week - I was in San Francisco for work, and brought my own Chike shakes for breakfast as well as snacks, so I did pretty good. Somehow I was up 4 lbs when I got home (despite working out 3 of the 4 days I was there) but I have since lost that and am back at 159 today. I also exercised for 3 hours yesterday - mostly walking outside (10 miles) plus lifting weights, which felt so good. It's nice to feel like I have an active life now.
So, tomorrow is my one year surgiversary. CRAZY! The year has flown by. I read all these posts about people having buyer's remorse, and I never had a second of it. I feel very fortunate.
Time Since Surgery: 364 days!
B: Chike shake, coffee with half and half
S: Dannon Light and Fit banana creme greek yogurt with almonds
L: Ground turkey with taco seasoning, tbsp of sour cream with hot sauce, 1/5 avocado
S: Rotisserie chicken salad I made with light mayo, dried cranberries and almonds
D: Going to an amazing Thai/Vietnamese small plates restaurant. I will have spicy cashews, spicy tofu salad, chicken skewer
E: 60 minutes on the elliptical and I will walk a mile to dinner to make my 10,000 steps
Totals are 1,300 calories, 106 protein, 73 carbs
Have a great day, everyone, and looking forward to your posts! Em
Good Morning! Em, that's so exciting about your upcoming anniversary! Do you ever reflect on what you were doing at this time last year and how different everything is? I know I do and it's only been 5 months! I had a busy weekend and I granted myself some latitude with what I ate, so I'm back on track fo sho. We went to Niagara Falls on Saturday. It was still pretty awesome, but cold and wet this time of year. I think we'll go back when the weather is warmer so we can do all the things. And Sunday we went to the Buffalo Bills game. Wooo! Let's go Buffalo! Lemme tell you, I've been to a lot of football games, but this game was the best one ever. We had so much fun; the Buffalo fans are unlike any others and it was contagious. My son screamed himself hoarse cheering. LOL But, you know, football means tailgating so there was beer and chips and guac, etc. I did indulge a little but today is a new day. Onward!
B: coffee and Frienship Fit to Go cottage cheese
S: celery with a sundried tomato mozzarella Laughing Cow wedge
L: 3/4 c. Signature Sweet Spicy Smoky chili
D: Morningstar Farms black bean burger, 2 slices thin Sargento swiss with an over easy egg and some salsa
TOTALS: Cals: 811 Protein: 66 Carbs: 64 Fat: 33

It's crazy! One year ago today I was touring Baltimore with my mom, who had flown in that morning to spend the week with me while I "recovered" although I really didn't have much pain or need to recover - I was pretty good by day 3. It is crazy to think that one year ago today I weighed 351!!! And didn't even know how much it was slowing me down. Crazy, I know.
Tailgating and parties definitely lead me to eat more carbs than I should. Amazing how many chips my stomach can fit, and how little chicken salad. I haven't decided how my new "life" will be structured - do I eat good 6 days a week, 90% of the time, all the time? I don't think I can do all the time - I thin****asionally I will have chips or popcorn or something like that, and log it, remain accountable, and adjust the rest of my day's eats accordingly. Glad you're back at it. Thank god for our pouches to keep us honest!
Congratulations on an amazing year DC Girl! Where has the time gone?! I had a busy weekend with Christmas baking and programs and such but I managed to stay on track with it all. Post op 28 months and weight at 121.2 today. On track with fluids and vitamins so far. Raining here today so not sure if Lily and I will make the park today or not but I will get 4 miles in somewhere. Also have already done level 3 of the 30 day shred DVD for the day. Here's the food plan: B 1/2 c steel cut oats and nuts and half a banana with peanut butter L 31/2 oz deli turkey and cheese with 1/2 c Greek yogurt S apple with peanut butter D 31/2 oz salmon roll up 1/2 c sweet potatoes S Greek yogurt with nuts. Have a great day with lots of good choices everyone!
Good Morning All,
Em, congrats on the almost 1 year mark, you've been truly amazing this year! I think about where I was this time last year all the time, but I notice the holiday's have brought even more reflection on, b/c at that point I knew I was about a month away from surgery, I hadn't told anyone (I knew my family was against it, so I didn't tell them until the week before surgery) and I was sort of freaking out. I'm with you though, this is the best thing I've ever done for myself, and I can't imagine ever going back (not to say that it won't be a struggle to prevent it, but diligence and accountability will be key). You have been so successful, what an amazing year!
Time since surgery: 10.75 months
B - string cheese, light and fit w/ hemp seeds and pumpkin seeds (I read an article about how we need more magnesium in our diets and these two foods have the highest concentration)
L - Rotisserie chicken and cottage cheese
S - String Cheese
D - TBD, but a kale salad with chicken is a likely option
W/V - On track
E - The versaclimber later tonight and maybe some time on the elliptical as well
Have a great day everyone!
