Weight Gain
So, this is my problem, I can not eat any normal food without getting sick, especially carbs and meat. I can however eat sugar without limit!! That is all I eat!! I have gained 20lbs back of the 170lbs I lost. I am so disappointed. Can someone please tell me if they have ever had this problem? I am 2 yrs. post op.
I'm 9 years post opp. What I have done is go back to the basic things and start eating veg's and staying away from breads and pasta.

If you are getting sick from normal food, it is either that something is wrong like an ulcer or stricture or you are eating too much. Eating sugar just makes you crave more sugar.
You need to have your body checked out to be sure that there is no physical reason for your getting sick. Then start eating tiny meals. Eating sugar will pack the pounds on quickly, so you might have to just give that up for good. Weigh you food and try to eat about three ounces of protein for a meal, with a few non-starchy vegetables if you have room. If you cant finish three ounces, then eat one ounce and put or throw the rest away.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Good advice White Dove. I Always try to eat protein first. Sometimes it makes me nauseous so I wait about 15 minutes for the nausea to ease then try a smaller bite and chew chew chew. If it still makes me ill, I wait another 15 minutes and eat some greek yogurt.
Refined sugars and "white" foods are our enemy. You have to keep them out of your life to stay healthy!
Go back to softer proteins like eggs and cottage cheese. Also maybe make sure your meats are finely cut and moist not dry... Skip the carbs for now so you can get off the sugar roller coaster. Just some ideas to get back to 'normal' food. Also define 'normal' LOL... Normal people food or normal bariatric food?

I too am 2 years post op and for the past 2 months have been going through the same thing. If I eat anything solid like you said I am withering in pain for about an hour or so till the food passes. I have no problem eating all the wrong things as it is the only thing that does not hurt after eating. Its not just the pain, but the extreme nausea that goes along with it. I was going to have a EDG done but i canceled it a month ago and said let me try changing my diet up , make sure i am really paying attention to chewing and slowing down eating to see if it was me or if it was something else going on. And it still is doing it so guess after the holidays I will try and schedule it again to see whats going on.
I too have the nausea, along with the discomfort. I just need to change my eating habits! I do seem to be able to eat salad that seems to stay down and does not cause nausea!! I too need to schedule testing and go back to my bariatric clinic. Good luck to you:)
I too have no problems with salad. I cannot eat any meat no matter how good its chewed up or small bites or slow i eat. I have tied it with gravy, moist, etc. doesnt matter. Where I could eat about 1 cup of food I can only consume about a couple bites when the pain starts but unfortunately not losing weight lol, but thats because crackers, peanut butter, apple sauce, soups, and all the other stuff we shouldnt eat goes down just fine
