I have heard that probiotics and/or digeste digestivemes help with this problem, but the ones I took upset my stomach terribly.  Does anyone have recommendations as to how to get rid of these odors.  If yes, please give specific brands and doses that have been helpful.  TIA

I so love this product it is called poo-pourri Can  go to website and order. you spritz toilet before you go and I promise it works so good it is hard to believe! I will always order it and also carry one in purse. Try Amazon also and read all reviews. IMO every gastric bypass patient will love this even their husband/wife/kids/dog and cats will be greatfull.

If you are on a tight budget and find poo-pourri unaffordable, try spraying the toilet bowl water with Frebreze beforehand.  Also, consider something called a "courtesy flush"  a couple of times during your BM.

Have you been checked for bacterial overgrowth of the intestines?  Is this something new or ongoing?

This problem is pretty much ongoing.  I had my surgery 6 years ago and I would say I have this problem for the last 3-4 years.  Now that my kids are no longer babies, it's gotten embarrassing and that is why I have sought some sort of help.  I will mention possible bacterial overgrowth of intestines to my doctor.  TY

Is it just the smell or do you have issues with diarrhea as well?  If it's just the smell then it sounds like it may be related to something you are eating, sugar alcohols are notorious for this as others have mentioned.

Here is a little more info about SIBO.

Sometimes it's just diet. Sugar alcohols will do that to me, or too many carbs.

Get some DEVROM or BEANO; I use Devrom.  It's a fecal deodorant which works internally.  Doesn't eliminate the gas but does eliminate the stink.  I chew 3 to 4 tablets in the am which seems to help. I haven't had to use it for a long time.

Devrom is only available online.

You might also eliminate all sugar alcohols from your diet;  that stuff (malitol, sorbitol, anything that ends with "ol" will really do a number on your innerds.
