How much weight did you lose? I hate this question... how do you answer?

"Well...quite a lot." That's my answer.

I totally understand how you feel, but for some reason I don't feel that way myself.  I tell people over a 100 pounds (it varies from 110 to 120, depending on where I'm at) and am just proud of the change.  People can be oblivious to sensitive issues and I just try to remember they're coming from a good place (mostly) if I get embarrassed.  I wonder if you'd feel the same way if you lost it through dieting?

Wow - our stats are very similar!!

I am not embarrassed about the surgery,  I am super open about that. So I think it would not matter. I don't know. I have never lost it through diet alone!!

Yes, our stats are very similar!  I lost 65 pounds 10 years ago right before I met my current husband through no carbs or sugar, but of course couldn't maintain it.  This is the first time in my adult life where I'm at goal and losing weight isn't my focus.  I just try to focus on maintaining my loss through healthy choices with food (when possible, ha ha) and committing to my exercise program.  I think we have to believe we can keep it off this time.  The smaller stomach is definitely an aid in the battle.  Good to share with others who are experiencing this success.  It's such a gift!!!

I am not an attention person.  So someone calling to me across a store WILL get ignored.  For any reason really.  If you want to come up to me and ask me a question that's fine.  If you ask me how I lost it, HARD A** WORK and doing what I should have been doing all along.  If you ask me how much, I will say Why do you want to know.

That's just me.  I dont' like telling my business about regular stuff but to me, this is personal and quite frankly no ones business.

I always answer "Not as much as I would like to....still working on it"......the part I hate is when they tell my that they can tell it in my face.....REALLY!  Did not realize that each cheek weighed that much....LOL

Typically the people that ask me that are the ones I'm least likely to want to share information with...about anything.

I often say I'm keeping track of my loss by clothing sizes and not focused on the scale.

Oh dear!!!  I would not like that question.  I am pre-op so will need to come up with a good response.  People with the nerve to ask will never learn!!

Someone said to me today wow I didn't recognize you you lost so much weight.  It caught me off guard since its been ten years since I lost weight, I said yeah I guess and walked away.  That hasnt happened in many years, its been so many years since I have been normal weight, it annoyed me.

I'm only 3 weeks out, but I don't think I'll have a problem with telling people how much weight I lost. I'm already proud of how much I've been able to lose thus far. I talk about the surgery with anyone who asks. :)
