What Pre-op diet did you do?
Good Morning. As I wait to hear if I am approved from the insurance company. Praying I find out this coming week. Found out yesterday the Insurance girl at my Dr.s office was just submitting my paperwork to my insurance company! (thought they were doing this Tuesday) . But on the bright side when I called my insurance company on Thursday and they said they didn't have it yet....they said it normally only takes a couple of days to approve. I have to know before the 24th so I can start my pre-op diet to have my surgery the 10th of March. Still have to get my Primary doc to do my pre-op physical, blood work and ekg. Still have do a consent signing and have EDG done. Oh, and do a NUT class online. I am going to be very busy that last 2 weeks if all goes as planned.
Anyway thanks to my NUT I already have my bag of diet pre-op goodies and I will basically be doing a Med-fast diet for 2 weeks. Was just wondering what others have done and how you did with it? How much did you lose during that time?
I am really getting antsy on waiting.
This is similar to what I have to do. Two weeks of low fat and carb and high protein. I have a list of foods and amounts that I can eat each day. Poultry, fish, eggs, low fat dairy, small amount of nuts and seeds, vegetables, and small amount of fruit. I'm not allowed cheese though. I can add protein shakes if I need the protein, but I should be able to get enough protein from food. I will probably end up eating chicken or tuna mixed with greek yogurt everyday.

I was on the omg I am never going to eat again diet... lol - we didn't have a pre-op diet. Only clear liquids the day before and a bottle of mag citrate to clean the pipes. I was 277 in January and 265 on 2/6 surgery day. So 12 pounds lost before I had surgery but not as a result of the pre op diet.
Good luck - it's a great time!!
Mine is "Just don't gain any weight this week," per my surgeon. I was a little surprised bc I have read here a lot an most seem to have at least 2-3 days on liquids. But I was also told at the beginning I didn't really need to lose weight during the six months prior, oh just five lbs if I felt like it. Also seemed a little unusual to me. I guess my blood and urine tests came back good and she's not worried about fatty liver. We just moved a few months back so I'm taking this time before surgery 2/19 to make the house nice, put away painting stuff so I don't have to look at it and be frustrated that I'm too tired to finish the walls, making an upstairs area to relax that's not in the bed if I don't feel like going downstairs for a day or two...also getting vitamins, protein samplers etc. I'm nervous and scared too but am confident I've made the best decision.
