revision from VSG to minigastric bypass or sleeve " DUMPING SYNDROME "
Your Doctor may recommend mini gastric bypass because that is what he likes doing. I haven't researched it, but you are on the internet and OH forum so research away. I can't imagine getting the same surgery again, if I already didn't have the success I wanted with it. Dumping can be a blessing and a curse. If you get it it can be a blessing because then it keeps you away from the sweets you don't need anyway. To think you can never take a bite of anything, yeah you probably can, but can you safely eat a whole piece of cake? maybe maybe not, but why would you want to? This is not a diet mentality, the way I see it is during my honeymoon/malabsorption period is my chance to develop new habits for the rest of my life. There is no end, this is a life decision, no matter what you chose.Good Luck.

Yesterday I saw someone on here who ate half of a fun-size Three Musketeer bar to test whether she dumped.
Dumping is pretty much an non-issue for most of us with RNY, especially as time goes on. I have dumped a few times in seven years. Each time it was from mindlessly eating a lot candy on an empty stomach.
I am not talking about a few pieces, I am talking about a bagful of something like miniature Tootsie Rolls or a bag of Hershey Nuggets. I can have that stuff in the house for months and never touch it and then one day start eating it and get tightness in the chest, sweaty, shaky and miserable for 30 minutes or so.
I vow it will never happen again, but it might so my solution is to never allow that stuff in my house again. I live alone so that is easy for me to do.

"dumping is pretty much an non-issue for most of us with RNY, especially as time goes on. "
-Ack! I wish I would have never read this!?!?!? You mean my wonderful gift goes away?
I am NEVER going to test it (beyond those weak moments in which I puked) because I WANT to be able to THINK and BELIEVE "I cant have that because it will make me puke!"
Now I am a SAD SKinnyScientist!

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
Forget the mini rny, its not even a real option, get resleeved. I am a very successful rnyer who dumps and has RH and my advice is to have your sleeve redone so you can eat normally and not alter your intestines. Dumping keeps me honest, but its not for everyone. It doesn't sound like it would be for you. Just my opinion take it for what its worth.
If the sleeve really stretched to FIVE TIMES the size it was supposed to be, though, what would keep that from happening again? I didn't think it was possible for it to stretch that much, but if it is, I'd probably opt for RNY. Yeah, your pouch can stretch some, it's actually supposed to stretch some, but it won't stretch that much.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
What Kate said. According to one fo the bariatric surgeons that I work for, it would be VERY difficult to stretch a sleeve to five times its original size, given that it runs along the lesser curvature of the stomach (which is very UNelastic). AS with pouches/stomas with a RNY, it would not just stretch so much on its own... It would require repeated overeating.
If that is what caused the stretching (even if it is not five times its starting size), then a revision is not likely to solve the actual problem.
None of our surgeons will do the mini bypass, so my knowledge of it is limited. If you are concerned about having to follow a strict vitamin regimen, though, I would recommend that you avoid any type of bypass. If overeating isn't the current issue, then a re-sleeve should be sufficient without forever altering your absorption of vitamins.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Why are you afraid of dumping?
I am one of the BLESSED dumpers!
"Blessed!?!?!?" you may asked.
"Yes. Blessed!"
I am blessed because dumping gives me a reasonably quick fail-safe that keeps me on the straight and narrow. The embarrassment and physical pain associated with vomitting in public (or at my home) KEEPS me out of the sweets that I [used to] crave. My choice was literally "Do I love that piece of cakes with the yummy pretty frosting enough to make an ass out of myself?" The answer was always "No!" I have my pride.
You will not have to live entirely carbless if you dump in response to sugars. For example, I can eat steel cut oatmeal with cinnamon protein powder in it no problem. I can eat sweet fresh pineapple. These will not trigger dumping. Notably, if I go on a pineapple or too many carb binges, I will not lose weight that week. That is due to PCOS (a hormonal/reproductive disorder NOT the dumping).
So, dont be afraid of dumping. Think of it as a gift that keeps one out of too much sugar/fats. I am glad I am a dumper. I dont think I would have been as successful without as sweet treats and breads are like a siren song to me.
