Gasp

Happy Tuesday everyone, I have not been around for a while, because I was finishing up my masters program. I am nine months post op and for the past month or so, I have had this feeling of needing to take deep breaths. I find myself almost "gasping" to take in a long full of air. I don't feel like anything is wrong, it is more just a new strange sensation.

My question is, did anyone else experience this? I am trying to decide if I need to go in or if I can wait until my one year post op visit in August. Thoughts?

I don't know about you but if I couldn't get a deep breath,I would be at the doctor, like yesterday.

That is one of the signs of lung cancer.

Hollykim, prehaps I am describing it wrong. I can breath (lol). I just find myself taking deep breaths or inhaling deeply, where I never did that before. It could totally be unrelated, I just was wondering if others had experienced that. Thanks!

I'd call the doctor now. Not being able to catch my breath was one of my symptoms when I had a bad infection and fever of 102.7. It's a sign something is wrong...

Yep, I have a call in to my doctor. Although I don't have a fever or any other symptoms that would indicate that I had an infection.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm a newbie, so no... I haven't experienced this.  If it's not a medical issue, maybe it's just a nifty sign that there is less fat around your lungs and vital organs, and your body is rejoicing in the fact that it CAN breath in those nice long lung-fulls!

GOAL REACHED! 170 lbs lost...

I love your positive thinking! If I could choose (lol) I would choose your idea that it's just from me being so darn skinny and losing all of that fat!

Thanks for the reply!

It could be lots of things. It's one of the symptoms of anxiety, for instance.

I agree and that is kind of what I was thinking. I "just" finished my masters degree program and my stress is at an all time high. I have to say that I have recently had moments of waking up in a panic thinking about defending my thesis!

I am positive that anxiety is more than likely playing a big part in this.

Thanks for the reply!

What is your ferritin level?  Low iron levels can cause that symptom.   Your red blood cells carry oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells that allows them to carry oxygen. Your body needs iron in order to make hemoglobin.  If your iron levels drop and you have low hemoglobin, you get shortness of breath
