Tea instead of water

Crazy question.

I seem to be able to drink green tea a heck of a lot easier than plain old water. Does this count towards my water count per day? There's no caffeine. I also just bought a David's tea portable infusers with various teas. I find it just easier than plain water.

Green tea has caffeine, unless it is some weird decaffinated version.  So, if you can't have caffeine, you should switch to a herb tea.  But otherwise, it would count toward you liquids.

several people reported having trouble with plain water.  I used Turkey Hill diet decaf orange ice tea.  any fluid counts. crystal light - everything but no carbonated.

Agree with the caffeine concern.  But count me as one who does not do well with plain water after WLS.  And I used to LOVE the tap water in my town--mountain fresh, with lots of yummy minerals.  :-)  WLS made it taste metallic to me.  And the cold does not agree with my pouch.

So, now I drink almost exclusively herb tea and this brewed cocoa bean stuff called Crio Bru.  Lots and lots of $ spent on herb teas.  I hope those herbs are nourishing me too!  If I have plain water, I filter it, and I drink it at room temperature or a little warmed up in the microwave--I have a filtering pitcher sitting on my counter all the time.

Check with your doctor, or his/her program admin regarding green tea. My doctor cleared it for me. I couldn't drink water for about eight months after surgery- and then it was only tepid water. However I had friends that could drink cold water two weeks out from surgery.

I'm not a tea aficionado by any means but I think Green Tea usually has caffeine... maybe ask your Dr about drinking a decaf tea like Rooibos. Also... decaf is often eased as we get further along/healed... many Dr's don't have a no caffeine rule, some have limit, some limit for a time. I was allowed caffeine at 1 month. I've drank it since I was allowed with no issues.

Great job on deciding to drink tea to get your liquids in!  My centre is fine with caffeine so green tea is no problem but send an email to your Nut or NP and find out what they say, but I am pretty sure its good.

I was told that coffee, tea, milk, watered down juice, water with flavorings like Crystal Light or Mio, protein drinks either ready made or home made with powder all count towards liquids, that's what my Centre says, check with your's as to what they consider "liquids" for new post ops.

And Teio I am 2.5 years post op and I still can't drink plain water, NOPE!  Pre surgery I dran**** water like it was going out of style.  I have only recently started to drin**** water with double lemon wedges in restaurants, but prior to that I would just get a coffee or tea.

Have no fear, you are not alone, its happens to most of us.

Keep up the great work!!

Even though I am allowed caffeine, I buy decaf Green Tea to make ice tea. I figured with ice tea, I am drinking a larger quantity and don't want to overdue it. I love to make peach green tea with Torani Peach syrup....

I am allowed to count all fluids towards my daily count, including 2 cups of caffeinated coffee and tea.

Yes, the tea counts toward your fluid count.  I drink several cups a day of Keurig decaf green tea.  I also drink 1-2 cups of decaf coffee (also made in my Keurig).  The rest of my daily fluid is achieved with my protein drink. and water laced with Crystal Light Liquid.
