My doc expected me to lose 100% EW. And I did. he expected me to keep off 70-80 % and I do...
This yea - I got back to 95% EWL..

My surgeon told me that I could expect to lose 65% of my excess body weight, and it was unrealistic to expect to get to a normal BMI. I didn't view that a discouragement, but rather a challenge. My response was, "Really? Jus****ch me." I lost 150 pounds, 100% of my excess body weight, and am at a BMI of 21.9. I love doctor's appointments these days. I am only 19 months out, and the real work has started to maintain this weight. I know that it is going to be tough, but I am counting on the same resolve that got me to this weight to keep me there. That and all of the habits I have developed over the past 2-1/2 years (pre and post-surgery). My obesity is a disease that will never be "cured" and that I will have to manage every day for the rest of my life. I'm prepared for that, and prepared to battle back should I slip.
Success is entirely in your hands. The rewards are worth it.

I love this drs videos - he was not my dr, never met him, but his videos are well reseached and practical. He presents the research data then gives his opinion as a WLS surgeon.
Let me know what you think - its 10 min long
PS You might lose more, but your dr cannot promise more than the average. You could be Lucy!!

This was an awesome string and a great question to ask. I also am hopefully only about 2 months away from surgery and the wide range of answers shared here today give me tons of hope that I have the chance with some hard work and a consistent effort that I can lose more than 75% of my excess weight.
Thanks for asking the question and thanks everyone for some great responses !
