Cyst or fibroid?

So after putting up with back pain, bloating, constipation, pain in the right ovary area, feeling full and urinating more often, I had an ultrasound done and they said they found A cyst or fibroid! I have to go in Tuesday and see what my obgyn says and plan of action. I'm pretty uncomfortable and nervous! Has anyone had this issue? What happened? And what should I expect?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

If you gave every 30 + something woman an ultrasound, nearly everyone would have a fibroid or two.  I have two that grew huge with my last pregnancy, but they shrunk after the birth.  They are only a problem if they cause symptoms.

Symptoms galore! Lower constant back pain, pain in the pelvic area, constipation, frequent uruination , you name it! This has been for two weeks straight now. Something needs to be done.

As Kim says, this is very common. I am sure your doctor will have options for you to get some relief.

I have dermoid cysts in both my ovaries and I have multiple fibroids.  They are usually a non-issue.  My OBGYN said if they get larger than 6cm, or give me problems, they will remove them.  The problem is that the dermoids are IN my ovaries, so if the surgery goes bad there is a chance they will have to take them out completely.  I'd go into early menopause if I had them removed, so we are kinda avoiding now.  I'll talk to her again about it in December when I go for my annual appointment.

Don't panic, they are common and can be treated if you have symptoms.

Thank you! I was waiting to hear from someone that has the same or like issue!

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I'm 45, so if these cysts need to come out I'd rather have the ovaries taken out with them. I have PCOS and have had issues for many years. Now I'm tired of it and something drastic needs to be done. No more watch and wait for this girl! I can't live with this pain anymore. Thank you again for your input :)

p.s. I will keep you posted!

I am 43, and I also have PCOS.  I had many more issues with the cysts before surgery and lots of abdominal pain from them.  Now that I've lost a bunch of weight, they don't bother me as much, so unless my GYN pushes me to have surgery, they can stay in.  I even did In Vitro Fertilization with these cysts and was able to carry to 38 weeks with a healthy baby (at the age of 40)

I'm done having kids, so I'm not worried about losing my ovaries because of that, but I know that losing the hormones can be yucky, and I'd rather keep my system working as normal as possible for as long as I can.

Of course, if you are in pain and having bad symptoms, do what you have to.
