Surgery on Tuesday went well - or so the doctor tells me.  My 3-day stay turned into 5, mainly because he kept me NPO for the first 3 days and then on clear liquids Friday and Saturday.  Today's first full day on pureeds went well - no issues, and pureed chicken is quite tasty when seasoned well and moist - however the texture is a problem for me.  My only real issue is that I have had laryngitis since surgery.  I see the doc on Wednesday, so if its not better by then (8 days post-surgery) I hope he gives me some answers as to why this happened and is continuing.  Anyone else had experience with this?

You had a breathing tube down your throat.  It will resolve with time.

Understood - I've just never experienced it in any of the 5 prior surgeries I've had.

Welcome Home.  Super sore throat, too? I experienced similar and was told there are different size tubes and I may have gotten one too big.  Ice chips and sugar-free popsicles were a savior.

Actually no - my throat hurt mildly on Tuesday after I woke from surgery, but not since.  I just have this creepy, throaty whisper and can't seem to speak without taking a big breath every few seconds.  It's weird.

If it doesn't resolve, you may want to have it looked at. Could be damaged vocal chords. They have to put the tube through the chords and it can happen. I believe it does usually fix itself though.
