Milestone met!

This morning I met my 100 pounds lost milestone. I've never lost this much weight in my life so that part in and of itself is amazing to me. But the really cool part is that it's gone FOREVA!

My surgery was in May, so this has been a fast ride so far, but I've learned a lot.

  1. Lost weight does not equal sexy body. I have some saggy butt and extra skin at the top of my legs that is not cool.
  2. NUTS are generally going to give recommendations based on normal people. Not us.
  3. Support groups are of all shapes and sizes. My local one seemed worthless.
  4. Planning is my number one tool in this long term. (Except for the surgery of course).
  5. I am beginning to be an expert on how to live this way. I don't say that lightly because I know I'm new to this. But when I talk to some post ops or even at my local support group last week, it became obvious that I knew more, by coming here and educating myself than most of the people in that group. So although I won't be a veteran for many years, I AM attaining the knowledge here to help me with that way of life long term.
  6. As soon as I feel satisfied I need to quit. One more bite can be detrimental. Nuff said.
  7. Im a cheap date now. Usually share a meal.
  8. Obesity discrimination is real. People are taking me more seriously now and listening both professionally and socially.
  9. My kids must have felt some sense of shame about my obesity before. Nothing specific, I just sense this. They are very proud of me.
  10. My husband honestly loved me just as much before.
  11. My obese family and friends may not ever get to the point where they think this way of life is a good trade off. And that's sad but okay.

I could keep twlking and talking but im just really happy with this surgery, the journey and you people here this morning.

Congrats, and thanks for the inspiration.

I am in same month as you from surgery, and this helps me.

Congrats girl!  So proud of you! How amazing do you feel, because you look awesome!

Every single point you made resonates with me (minus the kids one, I don't have kids) but its so interesting to me that we are all different, men & woman, we live all around the world, we all started this at different weights yet we have so much of the same similar experiences.

Keep up the great work, you have done so well and I love that you joined us pre op and are part of our supportive community.

On to the next Milestone!

Congratulations on the milestone!

You worked really hard preop and had a good running start going into surgery. That is paying big dividends for you now. Keep going!

Congrats!  I know it must be a wonderful feeling!  And your #5 is dead on!!  A friend of mine had surgery 2 months before me and I can't believe how much more prepared I felt and how much more I "know" than her.  I owe it ALL to this place and all of you guys!
