Question for the ladies

Period question..

So before surgery I was like clockwork since I had my child 16ish years ago.  Came on time, left after 3-4 days.  Easy to plan around.

I have had two periods since surgery.  Both have been days late and go on FOREVER.  Like 8-9 days.  I know this isn't unsual in itself but it is annoyingly unusual for me.

Anyone had any changes to their menstruation post surgery?  And did it ever go back :)?

My periods were strange for about 18 months. Longer, more frequent, and heavier. Then they went back to normal.

I have an IUD. I had no periods before surgery, or very rare spotting. After surgery I began getting monthly periods. Heavier at first, but now are very light, but do linger on for like 7 days.

This is my experience as well. I have Mirena, so I hadn't had a period in years (7, since my son was born). After surgery I bled lightly for six weeks. Now, I have regular light periods that last a while.

My first one came tight on time 2 days after surgery. My second one can on time but I spotted for 5 days heaven for 3 and spotted for 2. Before surgery I have a 3-5 day cycle light, 2 heavy, light.

I was due the day of surgery, but it waited till I was home and settled.  That made sense but I was a week late this time round too!

Mine has been very irregular, but I have been thinking that it's perimenopause. I am almost 49, so that would make sense, and I'm also having hot flashes -- but I have wondered if it could be surgery related.

I have had the same exact issue. I was regular,  it came and went in 3-4 days, it was to be expected and manageable every month my whole life. Now it is HEAVY, and my last cycle lasted 10 whole days! My center said it was totally normal. Fingers crossed for us both things normalize sooner rather then later.

Estrogen is stored in fat cells.  As we lose weight that estrogen is released into the blood stream.  Hence the crazy menstrual cycles.  It will normalize when weight loss slows down.  FYI it makes pregnancy more likely as you will not really know when you ovulate, so make sure and prevent it for a while. Some doctors recommend 2 forms of birth control.
