I'm new here and would like someone to rationalize with me :-)

chewing food down is not the same as puree. You DO NOT want to get food stuck and have to go to the ER for it. Also, I would not be eating crackers until you are at goal weight. Are crackers on your meal plan?

missed the chasing the nut thin down with tea part until now- you must wait minimum of 30 min after you eat to drink.

best wishes and check out the search function in the top right- you can find a lot of great info and advise on these boards.

Yes, but I mixed the drink in my mouth with food essentially purée-ing it with liquid before I swallowed it all. It's all mind games, with me and food. But yes, I wait about 45 min to an hour after eating to drink. :-)

You're right, I surely don't! Crackers, no... nut thins yes, in a couple of weeks unless puréed. Which I convinced myself was happening in my mouth since everything went down so easily. I think a lot of it has to do with I won't eat unless it's something that sounds really good since I'm rarely ever hungry. So I try to get creative and find something that I actually want to put in my mouth. Sigh... this is so much more difficult than I thought

Nutthins are still crackers with nuts as ingredients in them. they are not nuts ground up into a cracker shape. 24 grams of carbs in one serving. Stay far, far away. Also, if you aren't already in the habit of weighing your food on a scale and logging it I would start this habit now.

Ok, yes. Gotcha on the nut thins! And I did just get my food scale that I ordered, delivered today! That would definitely help too, writing down the foods! Thank you for this info, I truly appreciate it!

Hi Jenni,

I totally sympathize with you. I also wondered what the deal was with "pureed" food and chewing it up really well. But as you've already read, there's a difference.

I'm about 7 weeks post-op and I still wonder about some things, but I have accepted what the others are saying (for the most part!) and follow the doctor's orders and really did try to eat only mushy food for the three weeks after surgery. I recently made the mistake of eating Wheat Thins, which were on the OK list, as long as you chewed well and didn't overeat them. I did fine on the chewing, but I overate them. And I ate them with a beverage -- another no-no. I regained a few pounds. I was horrified. What was I thinking?! So now I won't be buying them or having them in the house. I don't need the carbs or the worry about a stretched-out pouch.

Everyone told me pre-op that the most important thing to do is to follow all the doctors' orders. When I slipped up, I felt so annoyed with myself that it wasn't worth the very temporary satisfaction of eating crackers with my tuna (yes, I also had tuna!) I'm back on track, and feel so much better!

Hang in there and come to the message boards when you need to. That has been enormously helpful for me, too.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply! It sounds like you went through some of the same stuff I'm going through- no fun! I cannot imagine being 7 weeks out and gaining! THAT would whip me into shape quicker than anything too... and I do NOT want that happening! Thank you for sharing!
