What's on Your Monday Menu, RNYers?
That is too bad... it has twice the protein and half the carbs of regular milk. And lactose free. IDK how they do that though. Hope it is not unhealthy.

My bubble got a little burst over Fairlife today... I didn't realize they were owned by Coca-Cola, and it went on about the humane treatment of cows... COWS... I cows!
But I'm not sure I'm prepared to give it up just yet... I may live in denial a while longer... my latte's depend on the protein and low calories...
I may my lattes more than cows at the moment...

Good morning! I guess I'll be slogging around in the wet stuff at my meeting in Jersey City. I don't think they will cancel it last minute. Not looking forward to that!
QOTD: I guess it depends: I eat protein bars for "dessert" when I need the protein and have the calories. I also have light ice cream or SF pudding once in a while. I've ALWAYS had a sweet tooth and know myself enough to know that I need something sweet so I don't feel deprived. So they work for that purpose but are not trigger foods for me as homemade cookies, cakes, pies, or a faux version of them would be.
B: eggbeaters and cottage cheese, English muffin and peanut butter
L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese
D: A protein based appetizer at a restaurant in Jersey City
S: protein bar

QOTD: That's a really complicated question. As others have written, a "faux" version of foods can be a trigger, leading to an eating relapse. I think this goes for all "lite" versions of foods.
For instance, it is extremely common for people to want to go back to salads after WLS. We are always taught they are healthy. So it starts off as a bowl of greens with a few raw veggies. Great. But over time, it ends up being slathered with dressing and croutons and cheese, and that salad is now 1500 calories, and far from healthy.
Then, there is the concept of healthy. Yes, we can make lower calorie, lower sugar and wheat versions of a dessert. Which helps our weight. But they are still not healthy. Fewer calories, but still not remotely nutritious.
It's not a black or white world. Once we hit goal, not every bite needs to be pure nutrition anymore. Some bites can be just for fun. But we have to be sure we don't drift too far. Because the last time we drifted we really, really went too far.

It's the add-ons that kill us. We start of with a small scoop of fat free, sugar free yogurt. We end up with three scoops of hi-test ice cream with a quart of hot fudge and reeses cups on top.

How many times do I have to remind you to stay away from salads?!
