Thank so for the suggestion. I just added it to my shopping list. I'll see if I can find it!

I would park the protein muffins until you hit goal, just unnecessary carbs.

I did not realize you are a vegetarian thanks for telling me. I honestly can't help you there, as I am a total "meat-a-tarian" LOL. But I would think tofu (really I am not sure) would be better protein choice than a protein muffin. Do you eat dairy and fish? If yes then cheese is good protein and good fat to help keep our bowels moving. If you do eat fish, tuna, salmon, crab, scallops, mussels are such great protein! And of course eggs which I think you eat. I would be checking out the website "world according to eggface" she sure has a lot of egg recipes. And if you do eat dairy, then her ricotta bake, without the meat might be nice.

I find after ready for the last 3.5 year a lot of newbies think that if they are working out a lot that they need to compensate and add in more calories. Not true at all. Our bodies in the losing phase have lots of fat and calories to sustain us and you don't need to "eat back" your calories. I also work out daily and have never and will not eat back my calories or increase my calories because i do work out hard. I do time my meals/snacks so that I don't work out on an empty stomach but i sure don't eat extra. I do agree to get 90 grams or protein in a day, even on your non cardio days, its just good to get used to eating high protein with the post RNY way of eating.

I think you are doing a good job, don't get me wrong, just need some tweaks here and there.

Good luck and keep posting on the menu thread, its great to have you part of the menu crew!

Almost everything I cook is an eggface recipe!! I love it! The protein muffins came from her site. But I guess I got a little ahead of myself there... I know my nutritionist's weight loss expectations for me may not be the same as mine.

I actually got some marinated baked tofu the other day and that was great. I'll have to get more next time I shop. 80 calories, 2 carbs, 8 grams protein.

I've done a lot of eggs, yogurt, cheese, and veggie burgers since surgery. And I've been adding protein powder to my yogurt, which is an idea I got here on the menu thread. If I get some of that skyr I'll have so much protein in one little meal!!!

I don't eat fish, though.

I was pretty down when I first read your response because I've been working really hard at this, but I know it was coming from a good place of sharing hard won experience. Let me know if you find new vegetarian ways to squeeze in more protein!

Ok so glad you already know of eggface's website, perfect! yes do bring the protein muffins back someday but get to goal first. And yes get more of that marinated tofu, yes!!!

I know NUTs/Dietitians, a lot of them because they have never lived this post op life truly have the best intentions but don't really "get" how we have to eat post op. Merryrose just so you know I was totally lost when I was fresh post op. For the first 3 months I felt like I floundered around clueless, then I found OH. It was a godsend for me and I took the Vets advice and stuck to it to a T. I saw how successful they were by eating the protein forward, low carb, low calories no cheats until you get to goal mentality. My NUT wanted me eating oatmeal, whole wheat bread and potatoes at 3 months post op. Thank god for OH and that is why I choose to pay it forward so to speak.

Not sure if you in Canada or US. If in Canada the Skyr yogurt is found at Loblaws, Fortinos, Longos that chain. If you are in the US I think they call it Siggi's there. I eat the Vanilla Skyr and its good, very filling!!!

I assure you my intention is never to hurt anyone's feelings here, and certainly not yours. I truly meant all that I wrote as support and guidance. I am REALLY happy you didn't just tell me off and leave. Please stay, read more, learn more, and continue to join us on the menu thread.

I will tell you what you are doing right that a lot of newbies are not, you are coming here to OH, you are posting your menu, you are making friends and taking advice, you are using MFP and you are eating high protein, and exercising, that is all fantastic. Don't think for a second that you are not doing well, this is just something else in your new post WLS lifestyle to consider to help you get to goal!!!

Thanks for posting back and sticking around, you really are doing fantastic!!!

Siggi's! I've seen that before! I just looked up the nutritional info and it's actually the same calories/protein ratio that I'm getting in my Greek yogurt.

QOTD: I remember some key weights - 151 in high school. Hit 218 in college (I think I was a senior) and was devastated. Dieted down to 155 during my first graduate program, 185 when I started my first job out of grad school. Was 232 and then 247 for several years. Went over 300 after I hit 40. Highest was 373. Ugh.

Didn't get much sleep last night, and I have my meditation class from 5:30-8:00 tonight - hope I don't fall asleep while we're supposed to be meditating!!!

22 months out (maintenance)

B: homemade Greek yogurt, raspberries

S: coffee with half & half, protein/fiber kefir shake

L: not sure. It's National Library Week, and our director is providing lunch for the staff today. She often does taco bars - I hope she will again today since that makes things easy!!

D: I'm thinking leftover chicken salad

QOTD: I remember very little of my weights, but the one I do remember, burned into my memory, is when I was in 6th or 7th grade. Twice a year we had to get our "weights and measures (heights)" at school and it was just some moms that came in and did it on a bathroom scale. Everyone stood in line, boys and girls, and got measured. They were awful days for me. It meant that I was going to be mercilessly teased not only that day but probably a good week after. You'd step on the scale and one mom would read it out loud to the other mom who would say it back to her and then write it down. EVERYONE listening. I was mortified. This particular time I was 200 exactly...and I remember telling my mom that I wasn't over 200 and I wasn't under 200. Those days were such a nightmare.

Anyhoooo...

B: Protein Shake

L: Cheese

D: Tuna

S: Yogurt

Have a great Tuesday!!!

I remember our school nurse lining us up, weighing us, and screaming our weights out as well. This was grades 3-5. We moved after that, to a place that had no school nurse. Thank God! Standing in that line was really stressful - and having my weight shouted out where everyone could hear it was mortifying.

OMG, that is terrible! Privacy has come a long way. We'd be sued in a heartbeat if we yelled out any health information!
